On this day 140 years ago, the first Kentucky Derby was run–with the win going to Aristides. The horse race known in the US as “The Most Exciting Two Minutes In Sports,” is held in Louisville, Kentucky, on the first Saturday in May, and always attracts women wearing large, extravagant hats. (1875)
