I haven't been this impressed with a restaurant in too long!! What an outstanding experience!
The service was top notch, but most importantly... the burgers were INCREDIBLE!
I had the following: Regular, Bacon, Turkey and no lie... each burger had their own distinct amazing flavors that were pretty much perfect.
The onions and the cheese rounded everything out and well frankly, after ordering three, I ordered two more regulars and ate my better half's regular burger too!
Yep. Still craving it the morning after. Must find a way to go back there... TODAY! -
Came here with a buddy of mine because the reviews seemed good. We were both really hungry and usually when your hungry food tastes even better right? Wrong.
I had the Bacon Cheese Slider, Turkey Slider, and Pulled Pork and my buddy had the same but substitued a regular for my turkey. We also got the chili cheese fries and two beers.
Overall very unimpressive to say the least. The beer and the cheese fries were probably the two better items though I'd say the Bacon Slider was ok too. Relatively cheap spot if you're looking for White Castle though not even as good IMO. Wont be back anytime soon, just too many great spots in the city.
On a bright note the service was good. -
Came here awhile ago with my boyfriend after running around Kim's video with his friend to shoot scenes for his documentary and to take a look at his movie, "Mark of the Beast" on the DVD shelf. It was right smack in between of The Avengers and Magic Mike, lol. Oh Magic Mike.
After his friend went home we were hungry and yours truly was craving a burger and a beer. Enter Mark. I don't think they actually make normal sized burgers, but their sliders are pretty decently sized for a slider and their beer list isn't so bad. I asked for my cheeseburger medium rare and guess what? It was ACTUALLY medium rare, so depressing when places can't get this right! Kudos Mark.
Our waitress was friendly, efficient and was getting things done for our entire section in the back. Our food wait wasn't bad and neither was anyone else's, plus she was running around like a madwoman and always wearing a genuine smile.
Their burgers are served with what they call "special ketchup" and it was just kind of thicker and more vinegary. I love vinegar. BRING ON THE SPECIAL KETCHUP!! They also have other sauces they'll provide you with, including chipotle mayo.
I ordered just two cheese sliders and the boy ordered 2 regular sliders, 1 double burger slider (crazy!) and we split some crazy mountain concoction of chili cheese, red beans fries - french fry potions here are pretty damn huge, so definitely order to share, among 2 or 3 people it will definitely be enough. Oh man, food porn central over here. OM NOM NOM, YUM. -
THIS PLACE WAS AMAZING. I would describe it as white castle on steroids. The same general idea but tastes soooooo much better. We tried the turkey, regular, and bacon sliders. Our waitress, btw, informed us that the bacon slider is made from bacon and beef ground together..... ingenious... The whole patty was a touch smoky, and once in a few bites you could see a little fleck of bacon meat in the patty. So delish!!
The regular was just as good as the bacon, so we ended up getting 4 more regular sliders because everything was so amazing.
Everything was hot (I literally burned my tongue on my first bite with hot grease.... yum...), the cheese was melty, and the onions were exactly the way i like them: cooked through with some parts sweet, some parts crunchy, and some parts burnt.
The turkey slider was good, but if you're a beef eater, there was no comparison. I am convinced the turkey is for the health conscious and non beef eaters that happen to tag along with a group of friends and must be fed something other than diet coke and water.
I am also a very big fan of their regular fries.
However, I wasn't a fan of the chili cheese fries, but that's because I'm not a huge fan of this dish anywhere, not just here. Everything was too soggy, but I'll admit that it had good flavor.
I WOULD GIVE THIS PLACE 6 STARS IF I COULD. You must eat here.
p.s. jalapeno ketchup to die for -
Christ, I enjoy this place more each time I go. I recently tried the candied bacon shake. It was good, with little bits of candied bacon. I think i'd prefer it crumbled on top though instead of blended it, little pieces would surprise me as i drank them through the straw.
But the cheese fries! I'm never gonna get tired of them. And tonight, I tried the chili cheese fries. The chili is good! Thick and meaty with beans and a slight spicy kick, more so than the cheese. But the flavor of the chili was enough to overpower the cheese in the order. My wonderful waitress brought my table more cheese sauce at no extra charge and the perfect ratio of chili and cheese sauce was sublime. I highly recommend these cheese fries and the sliders here at Mark. -
I was craving burgers but didn't want to go far in the rain so we settled for Mark. They have a pretty small menu - fries, sliders and shakes. I tried the regular slider, bacon slider and double regular slider. My favorite was the bacon because it helped cut the sometimes overpowering taste of onions. The double regular slider was a bit too big and filling for me.
We also shared an order of the chili cheese fries which were amazing. The chili was good - I did wish there was more cheese though!
For dessert, I wanted the pecan pie ala mode but when we were ordering, our waitress suggested the pumpkin pie instead since it's in season. We opted for the pumpkin pie and it was amazing! It's a mini pie so you get all the crusty goodness. They heat up the pie for you so it's a great contrast against the cold vanilla ice cream. So good! -
Holy crap, are you kidding me???? Me and a buddy decided to go for a couple of drinks then grab something to eat after we got off work. We roamed around the area, neither of us knew what we wanted. We tried going to a place a few doors down that I love but we didn't feel like waiting and BOOM. Here's this burger joint. First thing I noticed was the only thing they do is sliders and fries (for the most part). That, my friends, is a good sign.
We belly up to the bar, order our beers, I look to the left and see a huge flat top grill covered with meat, cheese, and onions, so I took my clothes off and got comfortable. No I didn't...but I wanted to.
I ordered two double bacon sliders, a pulled pork, and an order of cheese fries. After ordering I look in front of me and get even more excited as there's a holder of 4 four sauces. Ketchup, chipotle sauce (baaaangin' chipotle sauce), bbq sauce (baaaaangin bbq sauce), and a jalapeno sauce (doy....yes, please).
I also realized I made an enormous mistake after seeing these sauces and knowing I ordered a pulled pork slider.....I need pickles!!! So I ordered pickles. Cool story, bro.
My order arrived in a timely fashion and was so sexy I had to look at it for a minute or two before attacking. Seriously....it was sexy. The bacon burgers, unlike most burgers, are not topped with bacon, but it's inside the actual patties. The cheese is so melted it's almost like a gloppy sticky sauce (shutup, you love that) and the soft pillowy greasy buttery buns were perfection.
I first hit up the pulled pork. I topped it with BBQ, jalapeno sauce, and chipotle, as well as the pickles. Crazy crazy good. Then I moved on to the burgers. The first one I used the bbq, the second one I used the chipotle, the chipotle was the superior for me but not by much. The burgers themselves, especially the doubles, are thick and very rich, so I definitely suggest getting pickles since that watery, crispy, pickly-ness helps cut the richness. Together....listen, it's hard to top these sliders. They're that good.
As for the cheese fries, definite winners. Great on their own but with the cheese it's another home run.
I didn't try them but they also have quite the big milkshake list and everyone was ordering them so they must be good. Something to look forward to on my next visit.
For me, this isn't a "if I'm in the area" kind of place. This is a place I will make a point to come to again. -
Nothing to write home about. I found this place a little disappointing. The burgers were average at best.
-
The atmosphere was chill, especially because they had the AC outside. The sliders were tasty. And not very expensive. A nice variety of different kinds of meats and a non-meat option for veggie folks. The turkey burger was exceptional - not overly seasoned like turkey burgers usually are, but very flavorful.
We also had an order of cheese fries - they weren't like movie theater nacho cheese fries at all. My girlfriend is a big cheese fries fan, me not so much, unless it's real cheese. I liked these a lot.
We disagree on one thing - she thinks they had a good drinks selection. I would have like a few more options for beer, but that may be because they were out of what I wanted.
We both agree though that we'd go again! -
OK, so I skipped lunch because work made me to. Of course, I was starving. Fear not, somebody came to my rescue, and took me to this place.
I have to say huge "thank you" for introducing me to Marks! And - my apologies for eating every last bite without sharing (again) - but sliders were. so. darn. good.
Sliders rule. True story. Delicious goodness topped with sauteed onions and made perfect with sauce of your choice (yea, baby! for Chipotle).
While I was devouring those bite by bite, I still had a chance to notice how awesome the decor is - low hanging lights over the bar area, dark distressed wood countertop and chalkboard menu on the dark wood fascia. Love it. -
Came on a Saturday night with my bf and his friends after they went to Electric Run; I was more in the mood for ramen, but GAWD I'm so glad his friends decided to come here!
We were seated at the bar because there were no tables available. However, it worked to our advantage, since it meant faster service. The milk shake was freaking rich and delicious; it had a heavy taste of malt (which I love!) and was topped with a dome of whipped cream (ohhhh baby baby). My bf ordered it but I ended up hogging it and drank a lot of it.
Then, there were the sliders. Each was the size of a mini-burger. I ordered 1 thinking I didn't want to be a fatty, but once you start on one, you'd want another. (Writing about this is making me hungry now even though I just had lunch) Their Jalapeño sauce is FABULOUS with these small sliders. The bread buns are also toasted so that they're warm and yummy; as such, I ordered another one after my first slider. Sadly, they were getting ready to close by the time I had my second one (I think it was ~2am) so the bun wasn't toasted for my second bun :(
I'd probs come again if I am in the area for a late night bite :D -
The only thing that Mark seems to do well is sliders, but at least they get their main item right. The regular sliders we had were perfect, and easily the best item, beating out the bacon ones we also had - the bacon on those was mixed into the burger and didnt really add anything.
The non-slider items were not very good. We had cheese fries which my partner described as "bad cheese trying to taste good" - all you could taste was whatever spice they used in the cheese. The few fries not covered in the cheese sauce were better on their own. -
Hate to be the sour reviewer, but got two regular sliders and they were indeed lifeless. Dry thin patties & shux I don't even remember the cheese.
But at the same time, my expectations were super high because of the yelp reviews & pictures. My sliders looked nothing like the pics from others on here. Maybe I caught them on a bad night or possibly beer makes them better (didn't have one).
3 stars for decent fries, very nice waitress, & great prices. Although I didn't drink, I think it's a great spot to hang out and have a few beers. -
While i grabbed a couple of hotdogs across the street at Japadog, i made sure not to over order, so i can also grab a couple of sliders from Mark to go as well.
LIke buddy CG said, they are simple sliders that hit the spot.
'grilled onions, bacon and cheese- they aren't gourmet sliders with all the fufu. Simple, cheap and delicious!
The waitress that helped me with my order was super sweet and everyone eating looked really happy! I look forward to having a sit down meal here and finish off my meal with some fries and maybe a shake! -
UH-MAY-ZING!
Guinness milkshakes & bacon cheeseburgers. All day. Everyday. -
Great sliders, but you lose 3 stars for wasting my time by lying about your hours.
I've been turned away on 3 occassions while your hours are listed until 1. Either advertise that you stop serving people at 11, or serve people later.
MARK STOPS SERVING YOU AT 11:00 PM. -
Some of the best sliders in the city. Grab a beer while they cook up your made to order burger, and enjoy the open grill entertainment.
-
Okay man... best sliders I've ever had by far. I've had better reg size burgers yes, but these are the dopest of dope. Each bite is so flavorful and rewarding. The patties were juicy and the cheese was nicely melted. The buns were crispy and soft at the same time. The chipotle ketchup is the shizzle... much better than west coast chipotle ketchup. I ordered a bacon slider and the bacon was inside of the patty... kinda cheated me from actual bacon strips but when I bit into it I wouldn't have had it any other way!
And need I say anything more than WOW for their shakes!
The only complaint I have is that all the prices of everything on the menu went up so I was a little disappointed.
Love the shed feel and the bar going through half the shop is nice too.
My server was beyond nice! She was extremely kind and had a positive attitude. -
While doing a drunken bar crawl in the east village the other day, starting at Dax and Booker and ending at Pouring Ribbons, my friend moving out of the country told me he had never been to, Mc Sorley's. A shanda in my book.
So, on our way across saint mark's over to 7th street, we passed by mark. Actually, we may have been heading to eat those octopus balls but, I digress..
I dislike most sliders as they often come dry. Here, these boys deployed the White Rose, White Manana style burger grilling method.. Patties on a flat top and are covered in onions.. This allows the patties to steam and cook while picking up the onion juice.
These are not life changing. Staff was nice, food was very good. We just had a burger or two and were on our way..
Big fan of this place. If you are drinking in the area, stop by for a couple. It will keep you going for sure. -
I came here today because everybody raves about how great it is. I bought a Guinness milkshake which was surprisingly good, their sliders which I would come back for, and their cheese fries expecting regular cheeses fries but the cheese was spicy and I was not expecting that so i wouldn't get that again. Pommes frites is a better option for fries. Anyways, I would probably rate this place higher but it's pretty dirty. I saw MICE crawling in the back. The service was very friendly.... That's it...
-
The best burgers ever!!!! I went for my birthday and I am going to go again right now! Mmmm so good!!
-
Came here on a Friday night. I've never had a beer-based milkshake before I tried the Guiness shake at Mark. And you know what? I'm a fan! It did taste like Guiness... but still sweet and creamy like any good milkshake should be.
As for the sliders, I had a regular beef burger and the pulled pork. We shared two portions of fries (which are sizable) between three of us and two sliders each and were all satisfied. BUT - I definitely could have had a burger more, maybe two! Any more than four, and you can consider yourself a pig.
Only negative was the buns.... they felt like the squished-up kind you buy in packs of eight from the grocery store. Everything in between, however, was juicy nomtasticness.
Our waitress was really friendly and encouraged us to take as long as we wanted finishing up. Split the bill and it came to about $15 each with tip. -
Food was great. Boyfriend had been craving chili cheese fries so I found this place and he loved it. The sliders were delicious and the black and white milkshake was amazing!
-
Their sliders were pretty good and their fries were okay.
I came here to give a 1 star rating because they overcharged my credit card - the amount that showed up on my credit card statement was more than I remember paying the day I went. I've never had that happen to me in the past. -
Back in the day, Mark Burgers used to have a menu the size of a cocktail napkin. In fact, they used to print their menu on the cocktail napkins. Like the old menu, the restaurant is small and cramped, but once you sit down, the alley sized establishment feels like home.
Since its humble beginnings, the menu has grown somewhat, but here's all you need to know: Get yourself about 4 cheeseburgers, experiment with their array of ketchups, and top it off with one of their bizarre milkshakes. I'm particular to the Guinness or Bacon shakes myself.
The burgers are small, but filling. They are covered in perfectly grilled onions and pack quite a punch. You can even pass on getting the bacon burgers, since they take away from the wonderful flavor of grilled onions. If you need your bacon fix, try the aforementioned Bacon Shake. It's meat and maple syrup in a perfect swirl of vanilla ice cream and brown sugar and garnished with a piece of candied bacon. I don't know what sick mind came up with that one, but I want to shake his hand.
I've eaten there alone and in groups of 10+. In all cases, the services was excellent and the food was delicious. Everyone leaves with a full wallet and a full belly. -
My 140 char: Sliders with a side of cheese fries and a shake? This is just the place for these. Such friendly service.
Tips!
1. They have punch cards that works PER burger ordered so make sure you ask about that.
2. When ordering the Cheese Fries ask for the cheese on the side or else the fries on the bottom will taste soggy.
Food Ordered:
Regular Slider*, Pulled Pork Slider, Cheese Fries, Espresso Shake*,
* = das the stuff.
My Experience:
Start from 5 stars and then I subtract:
Food: Gosh darn it Mark, you guys just know how to satisfy my slider craving. Their regular sliders are just the thing to start off every visit, I would get one (minimum) every visit. I tried their Pulled Pork Slider this time and it was delicious and wish I knew about this earlier! I personally enjoyed their cheese fries but my friends did not like the flavoring in it so it might vary in your party. Finally the Espresso Shake is so good as well and it goes very well with a slider (or two..or more) (-0.25)
Place: I personally like the layout of the place, bar/grill section in the middle and a nice lounge area in the back. It is very small/narrow so you might have trouble moving around or seating people comfortably. Also due to its size it might get a little loud and you would have to speak up (not a problem for me personally) (-0.50)
Service: People here are really nice, I once was seated at the bar/grill area and the cook gave us an order of fries on the house (free fries!). The waitresses don't just take your order, they take care of you making sure your orders are received and asking once in a while how the meal is going (great of course). Definitely a place to bring your group of friends (4-6 max in my opinion) (0.00)
Worth: Their prices might seem a little bit high for one burger ($2.75 for the regular) but I found out most of my friends and I are full around 2 3 with a side of fries. Totaling all that together isn't too expensive for a place that's in Saint Mark's and the food just taste so good. (0.00)
Bonus Points!

Final Tally: 4.25 Stars -
A solid slider joint. They have a cool selection of sauces to accompany and they were decent sized and were tasty. Great price point as well.
A very small joint so try not to miss it! -
Pulled pork sliders were amazing, I still need to try their drinks. We didn't order any because we were quite satisfied at our previous drinking locations by the time we got here.
Sliders have a few sauces on the side to choose from, chipotle, ketchup, etc. The pulled pork was great as it was not over or undercooked, it was the perfect level of tenderness balanced with flavor and pork texture.
I didn't like the seating arrangements as the tables were quite small and the small square seats often caused lots of people bumping into each other. -
5 stars just for the Guinness shake. I inquired with the waitress and she gracefully informed our table that the shake originally starts with alcohol-laced Guinness but when boiled during the shake making process, the alcohol burns off.
But, an avid Guinness drinker like me still got a stout after taste of Guinness in the shake. Definitely better than other beer shakes i have tasted (ie.Yard House) the most smooth and delicious hands down.
Sliders were good. Cheese fries were made with that liquid-ish mexican orange cheese I think. not a fan, might just get plain fries next time.
oh, And the sliders were good.
Marks' Burger is like a hipster white castle, that plays a lot of Ja- Rule and gangster rap.
