I was just checking around for pet hospital places and I came upon this one
Pretty good reviews with some squawks as usual ( overpriced, bad service)
By the way, I checked another review site and once you got place the ad for this place there, and checked the WEB reviews ( instead of the hand chosen ones) you got a fair number of complaints --I am not surprised, seeing how attached people are to their pets and vice versa, especially in NYC these days

New York, NYI have been very pleased with Dr. Dan. Several times, my Pomeranian has had some serious ailments, and Dr. Dan immediately diagnosed the problems and prescribed the appropriate medications. Each time, he was right on and my dog responded extremely well.
I also find him to be as conservative & cost efficient as he is able to be, as vet services can get pretty costly. He always tries his best to keep the costs at a minimum....before having to move to the next step in treatment.
I am grateful for his expertise as a great vet! -

Manhattan, NYI've been using Murray Hill Pet Hospital since I got my dog almost 1 year ago. Dr. Dan and staff are wonderful. The other vet I used before who is also in the area was really expensive AND always trying up up sell me on diagnosis' and tests that I really didn't think my dog needed.
I recently had an issue with my dog Max and I called up to ask them if I needed to bring him in and they happily just answered my questions over the phone.
I highly recommend Dr. Dan and staff. They genuinely care about the pets they take care of and I appreciate that they made a follow up call after I brought my dog in another time when he got sick which was very thoughtful.
If you are looking for a personable vet, I definitely recommend him. -

New York, NYUpdate, I'm starting to really love Dr. Dan. Not that I didn't before, but my first appointment was on a super busy day, which was why he was in such a rush. I've since been back a few more times and he really is super helpful.
The great thing is that he emails and responds back fairly quick. This really helps a lot as I'm working all day and barely have a chance to call him and of course his office is closed when I find a free moment.
I think I'll stick with Dr. Dan for a while, besides the fact that everything is really expensive, he's been able to help with something that couldn't be solved for over a year!1 Previous Review: Show all »

Manhattan, NYWorking with dogs for a living and having one myself, you would think that I would have a ton of nice things to ay about vets left and right. The truth is that here in the city, coming across a good vet and staff that are personable, down to earth, not trying to upsell you just to run your bill up, and being good at what they do is hard to find.
With Dr. Dan and his PACK at Murray Hill Pet Hospital, you get the best of the best. I've had nothing but the best experiences with them all, and recommend them to any and everyone! -

Dr. Dan has been my kitty's vet for 2 years. He's been very nice and I've never felt like he's tried to push treatment or products on me. The staff is courteous and have always been complimentary of my cat when I've boarded him at the hospital.
I don't have much to compare to, but their fees do seem a little high. But I'm lucky that it's only been annual check ups so far so it's bearable. -

Manhattan, NYDr. Dan and his Vet Techs Franklin, Andrew and Nick are all AMAZING! These guys simply care and are the best at what they do! I've been to many vets in my years and they are on top of my list. Dr. Dan even saved my dogs life. He was incorrectly diagnosed by another doctor and Dr Dan found Chewys life threatening disease called Leptosporisis. Thank you, Dr Dan and Staff! -

Manhattan, NYThis place is extremely over priced. Had 2 small healthy dogs in for their annual exam & the bill came out to $723.70
Examples of charges for a healthy 3 year old dog:
Bordatella $35
Heartworm test $45
Annual Exam $75
Ova & Parasite w/ Giardia $84
Heartgard Plus 6 Pack $42
These are the basic exams done by any vet. The cost is inexcusable.
the list goes on and on....this is for the BASIC exam. My other dog is 2 years old and needed his 2 year rabies shot, his bill was almost 2x that.
Needless to say, we will not return. -

North Olmsted, OHI love Dr Dan at Murray Hill Animal hospital. I take both of my dogs to him. Very expensive though but my pups are worth it. -

San Francisco, CAA good local animal hospital. Has treated my dog w initial puppy vaccinations as well as parasite, gross. Will soon do the snip and clip. The staff is attentive and the Vets have called back in a reasonable amt of time. Pricey, but I think vet care is always pricey, plus this is Manhattan. They offer a limited amt of space for boarding as well. -

New York, NYGreat vet. I highly recommend. My dogs are older and I have had a lot of trips to the vet outside NYC and his prices seemed right on par with anywhere I have been. I will be going back. -

Manhattan, NYTerrible. Office is very poorly managed. I came to Murray Hill because I couldn't get to CT to go to my primary vet. The first time I went, my dog was sick and while Dr. Dan himself is actually very kind and knowedlgable.. I felt a little taken advantage of in pricing. They also were very pushy when it came to the tests they wanted to perfrom and prescribed uncessary prescriptions.
The second time I went, it was for a simple bordetlla vacine, which was fine but then again the office was incompent. Didn't fax her certificate and totally messed up updating her records.
I do not recommend. -

Manhattan, NYNov 30th, I took my 15 year old cat in there because he was having skin problems for the first time in his life (he'd had foot fungus before, but never anywhere else). I'd never seen the like of them, as there were horrible lesions that he clawed bloody from itching. He also had a serious brown discharge from his ears, and was clawing them bloody. I had my previous vet records faxed to Dr. Dan, which clearly stated my cat had been diagnosed with a heart murmur. He commented on how youthful and good my cat looked. He gave my cat a shot of steroids (Depo Medrol). As a previous vet had cleared up his foot fungus with steroids, I thought nothing of it. A vet tech later informed me that giving my cat Depo Medrol was negligent because of the heart murmur. By 8 p.m. my cat was having trouble breathing. By 5 a.m. the next morning, he was worse and drooling. He was in the early stages of congestive heart failure. A pre-dawn trip to NYC Vet Specialists, and more $2000 later (which the insurance company only covered half of) my cat will have to be on heart meds for the rest of his little life. Everyone who sees him says how good he looks, but Dr. Dan negatively impacted his health. He opened up a can of worms that my insurance company won't pay for (pre-existing condition they are calling it). I am seriously disappointed with Dr. Dan, and I will never again darken his doorstep. I've had this cat for 15 years, and he is my *only* family. Now I have to watch him suffer through pills twice a day knowing that eventually they won't be enough to keep him alive. I know he can't live forever - but had I never taken him to Dr. Dan, he'd be in exponentially better health. -

New York, NYI was referred to Murray Hill Pet Hospital when we adopted our dog from a shelter (Animal Haven). Over the past year and a half, we have had initial neutering and cherry eye surgery (from the adoption), an emergency, and check-ups. I have had a great experience with Dr. Dan and his staff and will continue to use him as our vet. They are very responsive, trustworthy, diligent, and believe my pet is in very competent hands.
