The manager here is the worst kind of person. The place was empty - I'm sure the attitude of this guy was as unwelcoming to others as it was us.
The food is what you'd expect - terrible bar food, good for when you're so drunk it doesn't matter.
There are so many better alternatives than this place.

A very strange place indeed. After leaving Yum Yum a block down, my friends and I decided to throw back a few drinks. We stumbled upon this strange, ethereal place.

The bar itself was a tad small, with three massive television screens playing three different college football games. All of them mysteriously taking place in Kentucky. The patrons, however, were the strangest and most fascinating part of this bar. It was an odd assortment of middle-white men, rather melancholy gay couples, and obnoxiously drunk sorority girl types. To see them all in the same space was very peculiar indeed.

In terms of music, they played every pop song released from 2006-2010 very loudly which brought on an unusual bout of nostalgia for us early 20-somethings. The sorority girls enjoyed belting out the chorus to Justin Bieber's "Baby" very much.

The reason why we even entered the bar though was the $5 margarita special that was happening ON A SATURDAY NIGHT. Immediate success as the margaritas were decent. Nothing to scream off the top of a cliff about, but strong and tangy.

The friends who passed on the margaritas did not seem to enjoy their IPAs very much, but I don't understand why anyone would pass up $5 margaritas on any occasion.

I'd recommend this place perhaps as a good starter bar to get drunk quickly and then dash. Otherwise, because this is in Hell's Kitchen, you definitely have better options.

Yet another popular after work spot. You can't beat $5 frozen margaritas. Its like a margarita smoothie! The windows open up to the street for that indoor/outdoor vibe. There are also a few tables along 49th. Aside from the margaritas, they offer standard happy hour deals ($4 beers). I haven't tried the food, but the margaritas are worth it if your in the area.

Came here a few weeks ago with my sister and some friends while we killed time as she was getting her BA degree and wrapping things up with the actual ceremony and had a few drinks with her parents who were in town from LA and taking her and her closest friends out for celebratory dinner/drinks nearby.

We wanted outdoor drinks and since Mother Burger and Blockheads were super busy and with 30+ minute wait times we stumbled upon this place. I saw a sign that said $5 margaritas and I saw a table for 4 with no patrons using it so we hopped on in and the waitress was super hospitable about letting us grab it and grab another chair for a friend who was on her way.

This place happens to be located right across the street from where our friend, the proud graduate, lives and we had seen it before many times but this was our first time here. Gotta say, for midtown/hells kitchen - their happy hour did not disappoint!

$3 Bahama Mammas, $3 Bay Breezes, (all day) $5 frozen margaritas with a multitude of flavors for $1 more and most martinis and fancier cocktails are $6 during HH which lasts until 9pm.

Both the Bahama Mammas and the Bay Breezes were delicious - very sweet - but A.) You get what you pay for and B.) They were still delicious, had a decent alcohol content and were super refreshing given how warm it was that afternoon.

The margaritas were the only downer for me here, I normally really dislike margaritas because I have a really strong disdain for sour mix and only enjoy margaritas that are made well (lime juice, NOT chemical ridden "simple" syrup or nasty sour mix!) and on the rocks - but for $5 I decided to give their frozen margarita a try in the regular lime flavor.

At first it's okaaaaaaay, especially if you're thirsty because it's nice and cold...but then it begins to taste weirdly frothy and my friend and I detected notes of soap. I guarantee there was no soap or soap residue in our glass - it just tastes like soap. The $4-5 frozen margs at Blockhead's definitely taste better.

Another friend ordered guacamole that was served with nachos. They were ok, not awful. The food menu looks pretty interesting and with the $3 Bahama mammas and Bay Breezes (and convenient location to my friend's house) I would definitely come back here again on a nice, sunny afternoon.

Great food, friendly staff, and awesome happy hour! I mean what more can you really ask for?

Stopped in here for some apps and drink, and everything was great. Really enjoyed their guacamole and chips, add some margaritas and you have the perfect happy hour combo.

Would definitely recommend checking this spot out. Wasn't warm enough to sit outside when I visited, but they do have outdoor seating which is great for when it is nice out.

While looking for a place to grab a snack al fresco, I had a bit of a craving for loaded fries and decided to stop at Mickey Spillane's while walking by. Despite my craving, we decided to go with the Nachos and Pulled BBQ Chicken Pita Pockets instead. The Nachos were pretty good, topped with ground beef, red (I believe, I don't eat them) beans, cheese, guacamole and sour cream. Though I'm not a fan of sour cream, I didn't mind it being on my food here for some reason. The guacamole was good, with a bit of a sour flavor. The chicken pita pockets were also good.

As far as the ambiance goes, it's a bit loud with pop music playing on the system and people talking over it. There are four TVs, if I remember correctly, three of which were playing the same thing. The staff here was very friendly, though they seemed to rotate so somebody different would tend to us almost every time they'd come around. Overall, it satisfied my odd craving for bar food. No complaints.

Three solid stars for Mickey Spillane's.  I stumbled in here one day walking home from work and heading into Claw for dinner.  My friend was bemoaning the early happy hours in this city (who leaves work before 6?!), and behold!  A sign for a 4-9pm happy hour.  Every day!

For their happy hour they have $6 cocktails (you get to select from about half of the normal cocktail list) and I think $5 beers.  My friend wanted a drink with cucumber vodka that they were out of, but other than that out drinks were fine.  I ordered an Absolut Sunset, which was fruity and mighty strong.

Not sure about the food -- the menu is very small so you can tell the focus is really drinks.  MS also has lots of TV screens on one wall and a mirror on the other, so it probably works as a very good sports bar.  Crowd when we went (around 7:30 on a Friday) was a little older (30s-40s).

Would have probably been generous and given four stars were the service not so terrible.  Never got the water I asked for and the server was only around when she wanted us to order another drink.  And even then, she asked as she were walking by, without stopping.  The bar was a little less than half full so I'm not sure what the rush was.

Last week a bunch of us were gathering together for a festive graduation celebration and prior we wanted to bask in the sunshine at Mother Burger. Or at least my friends wanted to. I rarely get a hankering for frozen slushy margaritas. But I shrugged my shoulders and went along with it. Unfortunately, even though I work downtown I was still the first to arrive and it was jam packed! As well as Blockheads. The waitress also told me the wait was 45 minutes. So then I texted everyone we're not going to either Mother Burger or Blockheads. My vote out-laws all. Yay. On our way to 9th Ave to search for a new place with at least a happy hour we came across Mickey's. They had a few outdoor seats still available. I've passed this place half a million times because it's literally across the street from a friend's apartment and has a glaringly bright neon sign. We asked a waitress if it was possible to squeeze 4 people in outside and she said it wasn't a problem and accommodated us very quickly.

I was next put into a state of shock because the happy hour deal was better than I expected. On that particular day at least they had $3 bahama mamas and bay breezes. And they were on the medium-strong side. Also, $5 frozen margaritas, $2 extra if you want a flavor added. The plain frozen margarita wasn't anything to write home about. It also melted instantly in the sun. I'd rather have a plan marg. I sampled someone's guacamole chip appetizer and it was definitely quality and decent. Thick and not runny processed crap places try to push on you. But everything also on their food menu seemed over-priced. $10 at least and up for apps. But I was going to dinner elsewhere later anyway and didn't care too much. Service was a little slow at times so that notched the star rating down a bit. We asked for a second round of drinks at one point and she forgot someone's and didn't apologize or even realize the mishap. Then getting the check took a little longer than it should have. But all in all I'd come back for a drink.

We were drawn in by the TV and only the TV and were interested in entering for no other reason, so we didn't have anything to eat here. We'd just finished dinner around the corner.

However, we were *thoroughly* entertained - and not only by the TV. :) As luck had it, there were four stools available at the bar at the corner, perfect for our small group to all have great views of the SEC championship game and to still somewhat face one another. We also faced the bartender, Greg.

Greg was gregarious, humorous and attentive. He plied us with stories about what brought him to NYC and his relatively unique experiences that has shaped who is today. Conversation wasn't quite as deep as it might sound but as I said, thoroughly entertaining.

Beer selection, according to my husband, was "alright." And by his inflection when he responded to my query (I was sick - didn't drink), I'd take that to mean the selection was really on the better side of alright.

I might not seek this bar out if I'm on the other side of town, but if I were around, and Greg was on deck, I'd stop in. For me, especially if I'm with my husband or friends I see often, that's half the fun of the bar - striking up a good one with the folks that you didn't come with.

You can't pass up all day $5 frozen margaritas that actually taste good. The happy hour menu is worth check out (drinks only). I would go here if I wanted to check out a game and grab a cheap drink in Midtown.
