This place gets very good reviews--pretty much raves-- except for one person who finds it WAY too expensive
What can I say, in this area and given upscale nature of the place..
There are other yoga places around that are less expensive, like Ishta Yoga in Greenwich Village, but even that is not all that cheap

Manhattan, NYHouse of Jai is a notable studio because it feels like a welcoming community spot. The owner is regularly there and teaches/takes classes frequently. The staff is friendly and warm. The studio is impeccably clean. There is no "rental fee" for a mat. You can just use one when you get there, free of charge. After every class, the mats are put into a "dirty mat" area, and are cleaned before they are ever used again. I've always enjoyed the classes I've taken there. The price is basically on par with Manhattan yoga prices. The only thing I'd like for them to change is to add more late evening classes. -

Manhattan, NYI love this yoga studio. I am new to yoga and feel very welcomed here.
I am a big fan of the minimal, calming interior-- white, tan and blue. The environment is simple, clean and quiet.
I also really like that mats, towels, blocks, straps, pillows and everything you might need for class is completely provided and maintained by the studio.
There is a nice array of experienced instructors, each with a different style and vibe. Newcomers should try as many different instructors as possible to find the ones that suit them.
My experience with other students and staff at House of Jai has been so warm and friendly, almost like a family. Everybody knows your name, and people really support each other. It's lovely! -

Manhattan, NYHouse of Jai is my new home for yoga. I have been waiting for a beautiful studio in the East 70's, and I am impressed! I've tried all the neighboring studios, and none of them come close to Jai!
There are classes for all levels, and I have been challenged in every class I have taken so far. The staff is welcoming and friendly. The teachers are impressive and inspirational. I am already a member and trying to go to yoga as many days a week as I can.
It's clean, sleek, and offers something for everyone in my family.
I cannot recommend it enough!

Manhattan, NYHouse of Jai is the best....period. The vibe and set up is terrific. Also disregard Hanks review since he must be from a competitor. I was surprised that the price so not much for the month. Also what I perk not to have to bring your own mat and towel. Lastly instructors as good as it gets...Meg, Molly, Ariel, Amanda and so on. Place will change your life.
P.S. After you sign up and agree with me try not to take my mat space :) -

Manhattan, NYReal Yoga, you want to jump to the next level? Then you should try this spot. The instructors here focus on improving your poses, and the environment encourage you to freely work on the "Asanas" you like. -

Manhattan, NYAs someone else mentioned the prices at this place are laughable. $25 per class is just a joke. The most expensive class I know of in much more upscale areas further over on third/lex (as well as downtown) doesn't even break the $20 mark. My usual studio charges $15, with much higher discounts for buying packages.
Its really disappointing. I was looking forward to a studio located in a "cheaper" area, and instead they chose to price it 50-80% higher than in "expensive" areas.
As for the class itself? It was fine, about the same as other classes I've been to in UES and Chelsea. Certainly nothing to justify the massive price premium.Comment from Jeri F. of House of Jai Yoga 6/15/2012I am not sure where you practice on the Upper East Side… More » -
