This place gets pretty good reviews--with some complaints of course--
I think as one person says, there are so many Italian restaurants in that area--and NY'ers have become such picky and compulsive diners-- that they dismiss any place that does not bowl them over as not worth it

Jersey City, NJThe dishes are a generous size but a bit bland. The sauce on the pasta had almost no taste. The martinis are subpar; they leave an after taste of rubbing alcohol. The service was slow. I expected better from a NYC establishment. -

Honolulu, HIA kind of hole in the wall place. A sharp whiff of parmesan cheese. Everything was superb. I ordered this house special pork. It was huge! and mouthwatering!
Wish I got to try some dessert. -

I brought my visiting family here Saturday at 7:45pm because my father was itching to use a http://Restaurant.com certificate, and this restaurant happened to be convenient.
The reservationist was lovely, and we were excited to be seated right away. The decor is a bit generic. Everyone's food was tasty, but not amazing. The tables are smashed right up against each other, which was a bit uncomfortable, and the service was so slow that two tables walked out because no one had come to take their order. Since we were in no rush, we didn't mind the loooong wait, but I can see how that would be a problem for others in a rush.
Overall, I had a decent experience, but I wouldn't return unless I was using another discount certificate. -

Went here when we were displaced due to Sandy and staying in the Hells Kitchen area.
The pasta that we ordered was good, but nothing incredibly special, and with the price they charged, I was expecting more I guess. I know it's near the theaters, so they charge touristy NYC prices, but still..
Atmosphere is very tight and loud, even for NYC. IT wasn't a "good loud" either. It was a lot of loud pre-theater noise, and while I've got nothing against people going to the theater, it definitely creates a different vibe than a typical neighborhood spot.
The service was also good. Nothing bad, nothing spectacular.
All in all, a 3 star rating sums it up best -

New York, NYProbably not worth it.
This place is a little out of character for HK - its not overly tight, trendy or loud. The place is large, kind of quiet and appears to get some tourist foot traffic.
the service is fine.
the food is also fine, but not impressive. we got the bianca salad with chicken which was alright, but there was far too much herb on the chicken. the seafood pasta with spicy tomato sauce was decent, but not overly refined - and not very fresh. -

My girlfriend and I really enjoyed this restaurant.
We came here after seeing Lion King this past Sunday. I think that our server was either the owner or a manager. Nice older man, and not dressed like the other employees. He was extremely friendly and attentive. One of my concerns was that while we were researching restaurants, a lot of people complained that when that had a groupon or other certificate, they were treated like second class citizens. We had a certificate from http://restaurant.com, and it didn't hurt the service in the slightest. That may have been because we had a manager or owner and not a server, but it doesn't matter. The service was wonderful. At no point were we made to feel rushed. Our food came out timely and hot and our check delivered when we were ready for it.
We enjoyed a nice bottle of house pinot grigio. I had chicken parm, and my girlfriend had lobster ravioli. While it wasn't the best Italian meal I ever had, the food was still very good. The pasta was fresh, the sauces were excellent, and the portions were perfect size. Therefore, when I say it wasn't the "best," that's not to take anything away from how good it was. This was a wonderful meal.
I had some doubts about the interior, but I liked it. A very cute restaurant. Not sure what it would be like at night since we were there in the summer in the early evening, but for us, it was bright, airy, and we weren't sitting on top of other tables. If I had one complaint, it would be that we sat at the front windows (which we requested) - our hope was that they would open them up (the entire wall opened to the outside), but it was too warm outside for that. And while the interior had ceiling fans over most of the inside, there weren't any above the window seats, and therefore it got a bit stuffy. But even that isn't much of a complaint since if we got warm, we could have asked to move.
I don't think I'd recommend the outdoor seating. The tables didn't too comfortable and the inside was much nicer than the outdoor patio.
All in all, this restaurant is well deserving of a 4 star rating. I'd probably give it 4.5 if I could. I can't give it a 5 since I've been to better Italian places, but again, don't let that stop you from going. This is a fantastic place to eat. -
Review from May L.
Summary: Average Italian in a densely Italian Restaurant-rich area. Decent service. Location is 4 stars everything else is 2, hence 2.5 in my book.
Atmosphere: The location is HK proper. They open up all the windows for a full outdoor atmosphere. In this regard, it's great. HK becomes your view, and there is plenty of fun craziness to make this a joyful experience.
Service: It's good. They don't hover over your table. You do occasionally have to prompt them. That said, it's such a lazy afternoon, that it doesn't actually matter so much that this happens.
The Food: For quality control on my ratings, I've been bringing my mainstay Italian stomach/good friend T to join me. We both agreed. 2 stars. The sauces were adequate. The pasta was ok, nothing special. It just didn't wow, and that is something you gotta do in this area where there are nearly 10 Italian restaurants in a small radius. -

Manhattan, NYI was expecting so much more from this place, but it was just average.
I ordered the pumpkin ravioli (based on Yelp reviews). It was good but nothing to write home about. I was also expecting a slightly bigger portion size since there was no protein in it. My friend ordered the lasagna, which he didn't finish. It was not good at all. I think my mom makes better lasagna and she is not that much of a chef, nor is she Italian. For dessert we had the cannolis. Good, but no better than the same ones you can get anywhere else for a lot cheaper.
I will say that the service was excellent and attentive. Other than that, I would try somewhere else for Italian food. -

Ridgewood, NYI walk by this place often and thought it looked like a good spot. Checked online, saw pumpkin ravioli with red pepper sauce (ravioli di zucca) on the menu and I was very excited. It was indeed delicious, I was very happy with my meal. My friend ordered spaghetti, which was also excellent. The place had a pleasant ambiance and humble yet charming decor.
The service, however...
I don't know if they were short staffed or just lousy at their jobs, but getting the attention of the waiter or waitress after being given our food was impossible. Seldom to ever would they look our way. Originally we were being served by a waitress. A waiter soon stepped in and started serving us, we presumed that this meant the waitress had stepped out or retired for the evening, but she appeared later on and was still roaming around the restaurant, not making eye contact or looking in our general direction. The place wasn't busy, either. People were coming in and waiting up front for a good few minutes for the host to finally greet them and seat them. We finally were growing impatient and grabbed his attention for the bill. We saw him walk over to our original waitress and inform her that we requested the bill, yet she still didn't bring it over for a few more minutes. After sitting there waiting to pay and leave, the host walked by again and he flagged him once more to give him the credit card. He asked me, "are you late to a Broadway show tonight?" ...wow.
So, the food was great, but I'd hate to see this place when it was really busy. -

Scotch Plains, NJPleasant, intimate Italian restaurant in the theatre district. Bread, pasta, and desserts are made in-house.
The fried calamari was nicely cooked, crispy, not greasy, with just the right amount of chewiness, and served with a tasty fra divalo sauce for dipping. Also had the homemade fettucchini verde in cream sauce with onions and pancetta, and the pumpkin ravioli. Both were very good. Dessert was a delcious panna cotta with strawberry coulis, and mini cannolis, which were so-so. A bottle of decent Chilean pinot noir was $25.
The tab for the wine, one hot app, two pasta entrees, two desserts, and two cappuccinos was $94, plus tax and tip. Service was fine. I would eat here again. -

Jersey City, NYSTAGE MANAGER: Hello folks. What you're going to see tonight is a little story of three friends, trying to find a good place to "chow down", as it were, in the big city known as New York City. Thats right, I'm getting "colloquial" on your bad selves.
Our main characters are roderick, tracy and her sister kristen. Tracy and Kristen had spent a majority of the day at a taping of "the Daily Show" so they were still on a Jon Stewart high. Roderick, however, was grumpy as always. So let's follow them, on their journey thru the maze that is Hell's Kitchen.
TRACY: Hey there!
RODERICK: Hey yourself, and Happy Birthday! Hey Kristen!
KRISTEN: hey roderick, great to see you. Looking good as always.
RODERICK: Why thank you! The Silver Surfer t-shirt does add a nice touch, doesn't it?
TRACY: So where should we eat? I saw a little Italian place up here, looks pretty cool.
ALL: Let's go!
EXT: Enter Pietrasanta, a Italian restaurant specializing in Northern Italian cuisine since 1987 (had to get that plug in there)
TRACY: So what did I tell you? Is this nice?
RODERICK: Quite lovely, yes. Sort of looks like an Italian kitchen overlooking the Mediterranean. Seems so cozy in here. So what are we ordering?
KRISTEN: i think i'll have the chicken parmesan.
TRACY: So will I and since its my birthday I'll have a glass of white wine.
RODERICK: I'll have the Pollo Con Salsiccia, the chicken with italian sausage, balsamic vinegar, white wine and fresh rosemary. OHH and throw in a appetizer of stuff mushrooms while you're at it.
****CUT TO 45 MINUTES LATER****
STAGE MANAGER: I don't want to bore you with the humdrum of the dinner and whatnot. So let's just move to the after dinner portion of this scene. Folks?
RODERICK: That was delish. Who knew that sausages with chicken and roasted potatoes would be so great?
KRISTEN: I absolutely loved my chicken too. I loved that it really tasted like a home cooked meal.
TRACY: I think the two glasses of wine are kicking in, but my food was delicious too. And damn, was that tirimisu great? Probably the 2nd best I've had.
RODERICK: 2nd best? I think it's the best one I've had in, i'm guessing, days. We're going to have to come here for their brunch. Whoa, does that say WEDNESDAY BRUNCH?!?!?!?
TRACY: Whoa Nelly, brunch on a Wednesday? Get out of town!!
RODERICK: We may have to take a day off from work to try this puppy out.
****END SCENE****
STAGE MANAGER: And there you have it, kind sirs and fine madams. Seems like they had a hella good time (shout out to my left coast homies out there) And damn if that Roderick isn't such a great writer?
