Ambush
Image if 22 soldiers were killed in battle today. That would be news worth knowing. What happened? Why did so many die at once? Was it a bomb? An ambush? Now image if that happened every day. In the United States alone 22 veterans commit suicide daily.... I couldn't believe those stats when I heard them. PTSD and mental health issues are obviously a major problem among veterans. I'm very familiar with this issue among emergency responders but know little about mental h...

Aimee Marie Reid Really love this **I love the meaning behind the photo, our vets need taken care of after what they go through to keep us safe**. My boyfriend is in the army. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, this is worth a million.

Chuck Newell Must say I got my book the other day. Amazed at how you capture every feeling that goes through our minds while on or after a call. Thank you for doing what you do.
Sherry Wilson I have to say, I'm getting tired of everyone talking/posting about all the negative aspects of our jobs...... Yes we see horrible things but we also do wonderful things and help people every day! How your day is 90% how you look at things.

Dansun Photos You're totally right Sherry. I don't think our job is negative at all. It's the most rewarding profession. My purpose in creating this artwork is to raise mental health and PTSD awareness. There's just not enough being done and we're dying as a result at alarming rates. Raising awareness and showing we're not alone in how we feel is huge part of getting better. It's an aspect of a wonderful profession.

I had a great trip to Regina, I wish I could have stayed longer as I had so many more images I wanted to produce. Yesterday I was at Regina EMS and took this shot of Jen and Cheryl. When I arrived all the trucks were out and the city was getting slammed with EMS calls. I was lucky to get this shot as the girls were only in the station long enough for me to take this shot before they were called out again. It was great meeting you Jen and Cheryl, and everyone at Regina EMS.

I received an email yesterday from Jon Antal who is the Program Lead for Clinical Education at the STARS base in Regina. He saw that I was in the city and invited me over to meet the crew and take some shots. STARS is a helicopter air ambulance service with 3 bases in Alberta, 2 in Saskatchewan and 1 in Manitoba. The service relies heavily on donations to operate. You can visit their website here www.stars.ca
