In this landmark training guide, Joseph Rush and Jack Murphy describe the components and functions of firefighter air replenishment systems (FARS), which firefighters often refer to as “standpipes for air.” The large number of firefighters needed to supply continuous air cylinder replacement often impedes firefighter operations in mid- and high-rises and other complex structures. Also, the lack of available air supply often restricts firefighters to support operations. Firefighter Carried from North Greenbush House Fire
A firefighterbattling flames at a home near Snyder's Lake was carried from the scene on a stretcher Wednesday morning. It was unclear how the firefighterwas injured but emergency workers carried him away from the house on a stretcher at about 9:30 a.m. He appeared to be conscious.
