A perfect example of how fire department policy evolves:
1.Someone gets enthusiastic about something at the fire department.
2. Someone writes a policy.
3. That policy lasts “a while.”
4. That policy and the expected behaviors slowly rot away....

Mark Samuelson Few steps were missed between 2 and 3. Review by law department to make sure it's legal. Review by union to make sure it does not violate the contract. And finally no new sop or policies during the 9 months prior to promotional testing (don't want to confuse those studying.)

Ryan DiPietro Between numbers four and five, you missed a couple. "4a: Obsolete policy is used to make an example of someone who's fallen out of management's favor", and "4b: Poor slob who was made an example of raises concerns of unfair labor practices, causing management to reprimand EVERYONE who's violated the obsolete policy, to show poor slob's labor attorney that they were initially acting in an unbiased manner".

Lewie Letts Too safe and too picky. Hands down. Bunch of bleeding v@#=Nas in this country. It's a parade, christ. And shame on @firefighternation.Com for putting Denver under fire for no reason. If they or were on a float or a pick up truck standing the same way none of you would say a word
