I have the utmost respect for Dispatchers. It's a job most could not do, including me.
Dispatcher positions can be notoriously stressful and full of non-stop work. And even though I've been taught proper "span of control" is to only manage 3-5 items at one time, personally for me it's more like 3. Dispatchers seem to juggle 5+ items with ease.

Dear Members of Congress (Both House and Senate);

Sadly you think our occupation is something you can hang your hat on during elections. The "Hey look at me! I'm standing with an American flag and shaking the hands of a soldier or a cop or a firefighter or an EMT" will not be accepted nor tolerated any longer.
Our numbers far over and above outweigh your numbers. While Congress has an abysmal approval rating with the American public, soldiers and 1st responders remain in the good grace of the American people.
Our VA hospitals are a mess. Pensions of military personnel slashed. 1st responders hung out to dry. Medical care and psychological care underfunded, or with the case of renewing the morally correct Zadroga Act... unfunded!
The few members of Congress who have served in the military or first responder capacity get it... for the most part.
To the rest of you we say this, you do not want to see what we have witnessed, what we have smelled. It will change you life.
The life of your families will be forever altered. You will find it hard to fall asleep and to stay asleep.
Honor the contracts made between the government and it's warrior's.
We fight in foreign lands and we fight in America's darkest streets.
We are growing weary of fighting you in Washington D.C.
Our friends are many. In fact on this Facebook page alone we have more fans than some of you elected officials by tens of thousands.
It's time for many of our elected officials to humble themselves and remember they work FOR THE PEOPLE.
They do not work for a political party.
They do not work for self interest.
They do not work for any Corporation, person, place or thing before they work for the American people.
Your facebook pages have been looked in on.
The phones in your offices have rang.
We expect that if you took time this past September 11th to post a picture and write "Never Forget" that you will put your words, your postings into action.
Should we feel it necessary to continue posting facebook pages and Twiter statements then we will.
Hopefully with the help of our 100's of thousands of friends and family in social media we can move the moral compass of our Congress back to due North.
America will hold accountable those whose words do not become action.
The New York City Firefighter Brotherhood Foundation calls out and will continue to shred any and all politicians who denied Zadroga Bill support !!!
Strong words Brothers!
We got your 6
We VOW with you to NEVER FORGET, ever.

This precious little girl was pronounced dead last Sunday, September 27th, 2015 at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh after she was hit by a car driven by a drunk driver in Shaler Township, PA.
Ava was hit by a vehicle driven by a 20 year-old male adult who admitted after the accident to drinking prior to getting behind the wheel of his car. The car was believed to be going more than twice the posted residential speed limit of 25 mph.
Ava is the daughter of Dave Campbell, a well-respected Volunteer Firefighter/Chief with Bauerstown Volunteer Fire Department in Pennsylvania. Witnesses on scene said two police officers had to physically restrain Ava’s father from attacking the driver.
The Campbells were just leaving a play date as 6 year-old Ava Campbell gleefully frolicked after dark on Saturday night in the small front lawn of their friend’s home in Shaler, pink and yellow glow sticks in hand.
Witnesses told police that when the car went around the bend he was “driving like a stupid idiot and drove irresponsibly”. The out-of-control vehicle went off the road, striking Ava and her mother who were standing in a driveway narrowly missing a second child.
Witnesses reported to police that the driver initially tried to leave the scene until people stopped him.
Ava’s mom was flipped into the air by the impact, tried to tend to her child afterward, declining any medical attention.
Neighbor said she heard a “terrible bang,” and ran out of her front door to find the horrified mother, and Ava, flat on her back, convulsing, glow sticks strewn around her.
Sadly, Ava suffered severe damage to her lungs, liver and a fractured pelvis.
She was pronounced dead at 2:15 a.m. at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC, with an autopsy Sunday listing blunt force trauma as the cause.
Our hearts are crushed and broken.
*** Please leave a comment on this post, let the Campbells know where you are from... say a SPECIAL prayer, thought or well-wishes to Brother Dave Campbell, his family and all those affected by this unbelievably senseless tragedy.
Dave, your Brotherhood is with you!
Together we are #BrotherhoodStrong

!['John Vigiano Jr. was a New York City firefighter. His younger brother, Joe, served on the police force as a detective. Both died in the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001.
Their father, retired firefighter John Vigiano Sr., recalls how the two became public servants. At 17, Joe began dating a young woman whose father was a police officer, inspiring him to take the police test.
John Jr., on the other hand, grew up wanting to be the "next Donald Trump," according to his father. "He was gonna make a million dollars and take care of his mother and father," John Sr. says of his son.
But after seeing his father struggle through throat cancer — and witnessing firsthand the way his dad's firefighter unit took care of him — John Jr. decided to become a firefighter.
He even received his grandfather's badge number, 3436.
On September 11, 2001 the Vigiano’s lost both their sons.
Here is a very touching yet sad story about love and loss…

Mr. and Mrs. Vigiano, you have given the world a great gift. Two fine sons who embodied strength, honor, courage, dedication, duty, sacrifice… and most of all love.
You taught them well, their story and yours will continue to teach a nation… the world.
The heroes of that fateful day and their families will always be in our hearts, thoughts and in my prayers.
Thank you for sharing this story with us.
We will NEVER FORGET the events of 9-11.
