!['The events yesterday in Virginia hit close to home for the community where I live. While I didn't know either of the victims personally, as a firefighter I have exposure to the various news crews around. These news stations and their employees are a huge part of our community and many of the on-air personalities live close-by in the area. I feel for the families, friends, and coworkers of Alison and Adam and hope that Vicky Gardner has a full recovery.
While the events began about 45 minutes away at Smith Mountain Lake, WDBJ7 and other key locations to this crime were very close by. The magnitude of the events and wide scope of area affected did not appear to slow down the excellent work by many agencies throughout VA. It was refreshing to see such a polished display of professionalism by all of the agencies involved.
