Has the HTC One A9's fingerprint scanner just been outed?
Going big on biometrics
A new image claiming to be of the upcoming HTC One A9 has emerged, showing us the front of the new handset, along with what looks like a fingerprint scanner.
The image was posted on French website FrAndroid, and shows a device with rounded corners, a white body and the familiar HTC logo.
The blurry image makes it difficult to gauge how authentic the photograph is, but with the attractive yet no frills design, it does look like a possible mid-range effort from HTC, aimed at people who want powerful innards and features, but without a hefty price tag.
A9 feeling fine
We've previously heard that HTC could be packing some serious tech into the HTC A9, with a deca-core processor and 4GB of RAM being touted.
However, PhoneArena hints at more modest specifications, including a possible octa-core Snapdragon 617 chipset, 2GB of RAM and a 13MP rear camera.
If the HTC One A9 does indeed come with a fingerprint scanner, it could be a hint the handset will ship with the upcoming Android 6.0 Marshmallow, which will put biometric security features at the forefront.
HTC is holding an event on September 29, so hopefully we'll see more of the HTC One A9 there, hopefully cleaning up the confusion about what kind of hardware we can expect with the new device.
