TGI Friday! If you’re out tonight and fancy a late night chip butty it's a lot safer to swap the frying pan for a takeaway on your way home. But if you do use a chip pan never leave it unattended and never ever, ever throw water on a chip pan fire. Here’s why http://www.london-fire.gov.uk/LatestIncidentsContainer_0109…

Today is the 349th anniversary of the Great Fire of London which started in baker's shop belonging to Thomas Farynor. The Great Fire of London swept through the city in September 1666 devastating many buildings including 13,200 houses, 87 parish churches, The Royal Exchange, Guildhall and St. Paul’s Cathedral, built during the Middle Ages, was totally destroyed.
Although the verified death toll was only six people it is unknown how many people died in the great fire of London because many more died through indirect causes.
In 1666 there was no organised fire brigade. Today it's not just fires that we deal with and through fire safety work we're making the capital safer than ever before. Tell us why you think firefighters are great. http://www.london-fire.gov.uk/great-fire-of-london.asp
Here's our fire boat showing off its capabilities for ITV's ‪#‎ThisMorning‬. The crew based at Lambeth River Station are on hand everyday to help with any incidents on The Thames.

Have you left your hairdryer plugged in? A family home was destroyed when a hairdryer had been left on when the electricity cut out. The hairdryer then came back to life once the electricity meter had been recharged. Share with anyone who might do this. http://www.london-fire.gov.uk/LatestIncidentsContainer_22Au…
