Today we’re swapping our fire boots for our walking shoes to raise money for Children of Fire. The Commissioner, firefighters, Fire Cadets and other Brigade staff will be joining Children of Fire charity on their annual Monopoly Moonwalk.
Children of Fire support young survivors of burn injuries in Africa, helping to heal the psychological and severe external scars that fire has left them. A group of children from the charity will be walking alongside those from the Brigade, which will pass 27 landmarks of the Monopoly Board including Old Kent Road and The Tower of London (Jail).
The public are welcome to join the walk, which starts at Elephant and Castle tube station at 9.30am. You can donate towards the walkers here https://www.justgiving.com/LFBFireCadets/

Like the Euston firefighters pictured here and other crews across the Brigade, our thoughts today are with the people who lost their lives at this time 14 years ago when two planes were flown into the twin towers of the World Trade Centre in New York.
We’ll never forget the 2,753 who lost their lives on 9/11 and will always remember the brave firefighters who lost their lives in the line of service.

A woman was lucky to escape with minor injuries from a fire caused by the wrong charger being used with an e-cigarette. Our fire investigators believe the blaze started after the e-cig was charged for 8 hours using a mobile phone charger - both are designed to use a mini USB type connector.
Never use the wrong charger with your electronic device. One charger may work with multiple items, but it may be of a higher voltage or current than is recommended for your device. Not only will it stop your electronics from getting damaged, but it will also prevent fires which can be serious and could even result in death.
Share this post with anyone who uses the same charger with multiple items.
