Governors Island Events

Preview the View from the Top of Outlook Hill
on September 26 and 27!
Preview the view from the top of Outlook Hill, 70 feet above New York Harbor. The Hills, the culmination of Governors Island’s park, have just reached full height. To celebrate this milestone, we are opening the construction site to you  for two days only. Walk to the top of Outlook Hill and experience an unparalleled 360 degree panoramic view of New York Harbor and the Statue of Liberty.

The Hills will be open from 11 AM to 4 PM on both Saturday, September 26 and Sunday, September 27. This preview is made possible by the sponsorship of the Governors Island Alliance and its supporters. A wide range of civic organizations and advocacy groups are co-sponsoring the weekend.
The Hills are located within a construction site, therefore, closed toe shoes are required. Visitors of all ages are welcome. Transportation Alternatives will be running the T.A. Bike Valet by Spinlister at the entrance to the site, and stroller parking will also be available as well. Volunteers from The Trust and Governors Island Alliance will be on hand to provide fun facts and information about the Hills and also answer any questions that you may have.
In advance of your visit, you can download the map, and don’t forget to tag us in your posts on TwitterFacebook, and Instagram with #previewtheview and #govislandhills.

Selfie sticks are welcome and will also be available for all to use.
Additional Ferry Service from Brooklyn
on Sunday, September 27
On the last day of the Island's public season, we are running ferries every half hour from Brooklyn beginning at 11 AM!

Hop on the ferry at Pier 6, head over to the Island and preview the view from Outlook Hill!
