45 years ago today, Janis Joplin began recording the song ‘Me and Bobby McGee’. Joplin (whose lover and friend, Kris Kristofferson, co-wrote the song with Fred Foster) topped the US singles chart with the song, after her death the following year. (1970)
It was the second posthumous No.1 hit in US chart history after ‘Sittin’ On The Dock of the Bay’ by Otis Redding.
