Where the Sidewalk Ends and The Giving Tree), he was expelled from the University of Illinois for poor academic performance, but his books have sold over 20 million copies in 30 languages. His songs, A Boy Named Sue–which won a Grammy–The Cover of Rolling Stone, and The Unicorn, also were big hits. (1930-1999)
