MY NEW (REVISED) VIDEO ON FALL IN MANHATTAN HERE
SALVATION ARMY SCREWS OLD PEOPLE, SELLS 'THE WILLIAMS" WHICH WILL BE MADE INTO--WHAT ELSE-- LUXURY CONDOS... ALL OTHER CORRUPTION AND GREED CONTINUE HERE AS THEY HAVE SINCE THE DAYS OF BOSS TWEED...
The Sadness is of course, worse for the old people who are getting kicked out of "the Williams", the Salvation Army Residence on West End Avenue that has now become especially valuable real estate...
They are selling the building for $125 million ( to be converted into luxury condos). The fate of the Williams residents remains to be decided. The Army says it will move a lot of them to new housing in an obscure and dicey part of East Harlem.. where of course they will be prisoners after dark--not that many of these old people go out after dark anyway.
Closer to home,-- the laundry room in my building's basement that has been out of order for over two months, the broken intercom system, etc. etc.-- and the absolute squalor of the Frederick Douglass houses, with its Gangsta killings and 24/7 drug dealing (under the noses of cops who sit in squad cars eating and watching TV...)
But Fall is my favorite season in NYC, even though we have so many occasions for sadness in September.
The apples are turning red in the apple tree outside my North window..(above)
And in the Eastern Window the Mums, Campanula and Jade are doing just fine..
A lot has gone on this September of course..
The Pope's visit brought up September 11 again, but also reminded us of the glories of the restored St. Patrick's Cathedral
Stunning restoration
And of course, there was Stephen Colbert to bring us the lighter side of the Pope's visit..
Back at the Williams, the sadness continues
The residents will protest but get nowhere. Their elected officials- especially someone like the hack Mark Levin-- have no interest in anything but their own careers, in whom their mentor is the renowned Rep. Charles Rangel, who combines Political Correctness with the tradition of Tammany and Boss Tweed ( Good name for a Gangsta Rapper , that- "Boss Tweed"
I would have used the Billie Holiday song on this video but it is not permitted...
And the fight goes on ...the "Good Fight"...for mercy for all those who are suffering and dying because of that awful day of Terrorism..
But Life continues and we will continue to have the Beauties of the Earth and the Spirit of Life about us..if we can keep it!
Well, here is new version of video ( best seen in Theater Mode or Full Screen)
