Lifting with your legs should happen naturally, but many firefighters suffer from a lower crossed syndrome and are unable to do it properly.
Please, stop telling people to lift with their legs until they can actually do it.

    • Gary Martin Smith If EMS determined that the chief wasn't drunk or under the influence of medication or narcotics then why would there by charges? If he was dehydrated or just dead tired then taking him home seems logical. Why must everything end in an investigation?

    • Anthony Crittenden So what crime did he commit? No drugs, alcohol etc. he was exhausted/sick and probably fell asleep. I mean really, why is an investigation necessary after all the toxicology reports came back clean? I mean damn y'all, you don't investigate a trucker who's pulled over on interstate sleeping? All these guys did was help their brother out in a time of need. May have even saved his life if it were a medical condition.

    • Ryan Cumbie This sense of dedication is actually quite common. You just don't get to hear about it very often because the media has a habit of only wanting to report misconduct. These firefighters, the one who played happy feet for his pediatric and the ones who responded on foot to a cardiac arrest when their engine broke down is barely scratching the surface of what we would do for our patients, our community and each other.
