Connecticut Firefighter Charged With Embezzlement

A Connecticut firefighter has been charged with embezzling funds from his fire department’s cadet program. Jason Kordys was in charge of an Explorer program for the Wolcott Volunteer Fire Department. Kordys, 33, is accused of making 180 fraudulent transactions amounting to $2,948.29. The transactions included purchases on Amazon as well as the purchase of food, plumbing supplies, and tools. Kordys is a plumber.
According to NBC Connecticut, when confronted by his chief, Kordys admitted the theft saying “I know. I was afraid to tell you about it,” and “It was a bad decision”
Kordys was arrested today by Wolcott Police Department on charges of first-degree larceny.
