A large tree branch fell at Bryant Park Friday afternoon, injuring five people as crowds enjoyed the summer day on the lawn, officials said.
The injuries were believed to be minor, the FDNY said.
The tree branch, which looked like a giant fork, according to images posted on social media, fell in a park seating area near 40th Street and Fifth Avenue around 4 p.m.
Crowds gathered around the victims as police and parks crew tended to those on the ground.
At least one person was wheeled out of the park on a stretcher.
A spokesman for the park did not immediately respond to a message seeking comment.
