This is the scene that Euston and Islington’s firefighters faced earlier when a tourist bus collided with a tree on Woburn Place in Bloomsbury.
Two fire engines and a fire rescue unit attended after an overhanging branch ripped the roof off the bus.
Four people were taken to hospital after the collision and 40 other uninjured passengers were looked after by police and LAS staff in a nearby building.

  • Jonathan Ray Good job as always boys and girls!

I was just wondering who would be considered at fault here from this type of scenario. Trees don't usually have height warning signs on them and the bus looks to be sat in the bus lane as normal, a lane considered safe for buses to use. Overhanging trees would be maintained by the council.

Most comprehensive fire data ever published in our near 150 year history shows that July is the busiest month, 7pm is the busiest hour, that half of all household fires start in the kitchen and Tower Hamlets has more blazes than any other borough. http://www.london-fire.gov.uk/…/LatestNewsReleases_londons-…

  • Graeme Jackson You say that "Tower Hamlets has more blazes than any other borough" given that FACT
Why did you close Bow Fire Station, surely given that FACT that must put residents of Bow at risk!!
Taking also into consideration that Kingsland has been closed as well !
  • Anthony Barker Tower hamlets has more blazes than any other... yet they closed bow fire station?
We’ve got lots of events happening across the Brigade today. Get on your bike to Islington fire station where firefighters along with colleagues from the Met Police’s Road Safety Cycling team will be offering road safety advice to cyclists. There’ll also be the chance to sit in a HGV lorry to experience the driver’s view and raise awareness of the blind spots they face. The event is from 12pm to 3pm.
Croydon crews will be in the town centre raising road safety awareness and d...

A huge well done to Shoreditch red watch who have been praised by London Ambulance Service for saving the life of a man who collapsed outside their station.
The crew were alerted to the unconscious man by an off-duty firefighter who had been passing. They gave him oxygen and monitored his heart rate on a defibrillator until ambulance crews arrived.
After the incident the London Ambulance Service Joint Response Unit tweeted : "Well done @LondonFire (Shoreditch) crew who just c...

The sun has been at it again this week!
The bedroom of a house in Wimbledon was left badly damaged after a dressing table make-up mirror focussed sunlight on to curtains starting a blaze.
Fortunately no-one was injured as the occupier was alerted to the fire by their smoke alarm.

Twelve years ago today, 100 firefighters battled flames at an office block behind Paddington Station.
The fire started on the seventh floor of the 11 floor building and 20 fire engines were sent to the scene.
Floors seven, eight, nine and 10 were destroyed in the blaze, which was brought under control nearly seven hours after crews were first called to the scene.

Great to see that we have an army of social media followers that have shared their wrong charger near misses in a bid to make others safer.
Mandy sent us the image of an iFake charger she bought from a market stall which caught alight and the second picture was sent by Jimmy, whose kitchen was left burnt after using the wrong charger with his electric cigarette.
Although both plugs exploded, they thankfully did not cause blazes - but you might not be so fortunate.
