IN MEMORY OF FDNY FIREFIGHTER PAUL WARHOLA A STREET IS RENAMED IN BROOKLYN
Firefighter Paul Warhola Way is unveiled in Brooklyn,
Friday, August 14, six years after the line of duty death of Firefighter Paul Warhola, Engine Company 221, a street was renamed in his memory in Brooklyn. The ceremony took place on the block where his engine company is quartered, at the Corner of South 2nd Street and Driggs Avenue, with the Warhola family and many FDNY members in attendance.
“The neighborhood he protected, the current residents and the generations that will follow, they will all know his name,” said Deputy Assistant Chief Robert J. Strong. “His memory and his legacy of brave service will live on forever.”
Firefighter Warhola, a 15-year veteran of FDNY was taken to Bellevue hospital after he fell ill while responding to an early morning alarm activation on August 12, 2009. He was 47-years-old.
