Fourteen Boston Fire Explorers are ready to hit the streets after an intense week of training. Beginning Monday, they will help support Boston firefighters deliver fire & burn prevention training to 2,500 children at summer camps across the city. They will also support an additional 700 youth in exploration activities about a career as a Boston Firefighter.
The extensive week of training included CPR certification, a visit to Engine 8 & Ladder 1, the Marine Unit, the firefighter’s fitness challenge, the maze, forced entry, smoke patterns, escape drills, propelling and extensive fire and burn prevention training by age group.
This program would not be possible without the generous support of Mayor Walsh, the Department of Youth Engagement & Employment, the Private Industry Council and Boston Firefighters Credit Union.
