Tsipras celebrating a Pyrrhic victory
For the moment, the Greek Prime Minister Tsipras and his followers can triumph. The majority of voters followed their campaign. Unfortunately, the Greeks now have to adapt to the fact that in the near future nothing will get better. A comment.

Winners look like? For the moment, the Greek Prime Minister to Alexis Tsipras and his triumph. The majority of voters followed their campaign and has made a decision that can be best described with the words "from the gut" probably. Whether or not despair was involved or whether the people really believed that we can achieve something good for their country in the negotiations of the government with the European partners with this vote is unclear.
The result of the referendum is in any case not in the long-term interests of Greece. Whether it is in the interest Tsipras', remains to be seen. The left-right government in Athens is not noticed until now through constructive proposals.Rather, it has maintained its ingrained in the opposition reflex. A yes-vote would have allowed a face-saving retreat in the old ideological trenches. Now the leftist coalition Syriza and his right coalition partners must continue to deal with the uncomfortable political reality. This is hard for everyone involved.
Greece partners in the EU have long since lost all illusions about the Greek government. For viable agreements a minimum level of confidence is required. No one can the euro zone governments blame, that they no longer apply this trust. For this very reason will prove that voters have the bargaining power of their country just not strengthened.
The Greeks must not only adjust to the fact that in the near future nothing will get better. They will even soon notice that not even the proverbial silver lining can be seen on the horizon. If this realization has only once broken rail, you will see how long carries the feeling of triumph of this Sunday on the government side.
More on the subject
- Slowly the fear creeps among the Greeks high
- Everybody Hates Schäuble, nobody hates Germany
- Crisis vocabulary: Grexit, Gremain, Greferendum
Alexis Tsipras and his government have promised their voters impossible. They will jump now either their political shade and must nevertheless agree with the partners on a sensible program. Or will they remain in the on such of her poor history of their country another negative episode. The people of Greece have truly deserved better.
