Rob Lowe is celebrating a minor Air Canada victory after publicly mocking a lack of legroom on a flight in 2014.
A year ago, the actor poked fun at the airline’s low-cost carrier "Rouge" on Twitter when he commented on social media about the small seats on his flight from Vancouver to Los Angeles. He also mocked the cabin crew's "jaunty hats," which he compared to an outfit singer Justin Timberlake would have worn in 2005.
Flying from set on the new Air Canada "rouge". Smaller seats but the crew now dresses like Justin Timberlake in 2005. #jauntyhats

"People are irate on this Air Canada 'rouge' flight. C'mon people! Who needs leg room or comfortable, regular sized seats with you have HATS!" he wrote.

On Thursday night, Air Canada Senior Director of U.S. Sales Patrick Khoury tweeted at Lowe to inform him that the airline had decided to reintroduce larger seats on their Rouge planes.
At the time of Lowe's flight, there were three seats on each side of the airline's "Premium Rouge" cabins. The airline has now upgraded its fleet with larger seats, so there are only two seats on each side of the aisle, according to a statement published by Air Canada on Wednesday.
In addition to the wider seats, crews are installing a new overhead bin system, increasing the amount of carry-on luggage space by 30 per cent.
"Victory is ours!" Lowe posted to his 1.13 million followers on Thursday.

His net worth is $30 million U.S. and he's flying Rouge?
Rob Lowe, consumer advocate.
Low cost carrier. Yes, low cost to Air Canada, Same cost to us with less service, less room, more aggravation! They probably received so many complaints they had no choice but to install larger seats. It was just a matter of time before someone exploded [not literally of course] on a Rouge flight.
Any victory towards better flights from carriers is a welcome one thank Mr. Lowe.
well seems his comments are well grounded
We stopped air travel because of this very issue. Got tired of being treated like sardines. We much prefer the leg room we get in our travel van.
What surprises me is that he has 1.13 million followers. Really? Rob Lowe?
Yes, the seats may be an inch or more wider, BUT same legroom and only a very few rows upfront that cost more.
This is the onset of the "Economy First Class" seating lack of comfort, that doesn't even come close to the "historic" economy class almost comfortable seating.

More likely they did this upgrade as WestJet is doing the same thing as of 9/14/2015 on all their 737 series and the 767 series they bought from Quantas retains the "old" style business class.
Rob? It's called a LOW COST CARRIER. You don't expect a lot of extra features on your car when you choose to buy a Nissan Sentra. Perhaps spend some of those millions and fly a normal carrier?
Was on a Air Canada Rouge plane and had no problems. Flight from Toronto to Cancun was great, plane was clean and new and service was as expected. We had read the information emailed to us and were prepared. Seats were a bit narrow but I was OK with the leg room and found it to be more than my last flights on United Airline and Westjet. Expect these narrow seats to be the new norm on all Airlines.
Who cares what Rob Lowe or any other american actor/actress says. Charter your own flight, you can afford it.
I guess everyone with a wide butt will appreciate the wider seats. If you don't like flying economy book with a different airline - one that can accommodate your wide butt and first class ego plus all the carry-on you're too cheap to pay to store. West Jet can't be our national carrier because they spend more time on the ground than in the air lately.
Funny thing Rob Lowe now that the seats are wider the flights will be more money. Thanks for your comments Mr Rob Lowe
Flew rouge to Costa Rica a month ago, not impressed, not cheaper, poor service and more expensive than normal avianca flight
What ridiculous looking hats.
I've said it before, I'll say it again... Air Canada should be replaced as the "flag carrier" airline of Canada. We constantly hear about poor service and expensive fares on AC, and the government has had to bail them out repeatedly. Meanwhile Westjet gets great reviews and offers cheaper fares. Let Westjet become an international carrier.
I'm guessing the price of the larger seats are going to cost a third more, if not higher. The only winner in this is Air Canada.
Americans say, "Jump."
Canadians say, "How high?"
No wonder they believe we are pushovers.
