Georgetown Police Captain Robert Swanigan said that emergency crews were rushing a crash victim to the hospital shortly after 3 p.m. when a minivan heading to a wedding reception struck the Georgetown-Scott County EMS ambulance on its way to Chandler Hospital in Lexington. The crash victim in the ambulance was being transported from an accident on McClelland Circle and East Main Extended, Swanigan said. The accident happened around 3 p.m. when a blue car and white pickup truck collided. The driver of the blue car was being transported from the accident by EMTs and paramedics when a minivan struck the ambulance. Three paramedics and EMTs, the original crash victim, and two people in the minivan were transported to Georgetown Community Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Swanigan said. Georgetown Police is investigating both collisions.         Three People Injured After Accident On Gordon Highway - Georgia Monday, July 27, 2015  By Stefany Bornman Augusta, GA – At least three people are injured after an accident involving an ambulance. It happened Saturday afternoon on Gordon Highway in Augusta. Deputies say the ambulance was speeding without its sirens and lights on. It went through two red lights and crossed over the median. That’s when it struck several 4 other vehicles. The driver of the ambulance was injured in the crash. One person is in critical condition at Georgia Regents Medical Center. Investigators say the driver of the ambulance is facing charges, including reckless driving. Count on WJBF News Channel 6 to bring you the latest on this developing story.         Funeral for Piscataway woman killed in ambulance crash - New Jersey Monday, July 27, 2015  Family and friends are mourning a Spotswood emergency medical technician who was killed when a car collided with an ambulance responding to a call. Hinal Patel's funeral took place in North Brunswick on Monday. Patel, 22, of Piscataway, a recent Rutgers University graduate, was killed in a three-vehicle crash while aboard an ambulance rushing to the scene of an accident in East Brunswick on Saturday morning. The Spotswood Emergency Medical Services ambulance, with its lights and sirens activated, was struck by an East Brunswick woman, resulting in a three-vehicle wreck at 8 a.m. at Ryders Lane and Cranbury Road, East Brunswick police said. Patel was a Piscataway High School graduate who earned a bachelor's degree in cell biology and neuroscience from Rutgers in May. She was planning to attend a master's program at the Rutgers Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences in the fall, and hoped to become a doctor or physician's assistant. She joined the North Stelton Volunteer Fire Company in April 2012 and completed EMT training in September of that year, serving as a volunteer EMT in the Emergency Medical Services division, the statement said. She was a volunteer at Saint Peter's University Hospital in New Brunswick for five years before becoming an EMT. Staff Writer Everett Merrill: 908-243-6606; emerrill@mycentraljersey.com         EMT KILLED IN ACCIDENT WHILE RESPONDING TO EMERGENCY CALL IN EAST BRUNSWICK - NEW JERSEY Sunday, July 26, 2015  By Renee Stoll EAST BRUNSWICK (WABC) -- It was her last day of work as an EMT for Spotswood, New Jersey. 22-year-old Hinal Patel was starting medical school Monday, but she will never get the chance to live out her dreams. Police say the ambulance she was riding on the way to a call was t-boned by a car, killing her. "They came through the intersection and were struck by another vehicle, which caused their vehicle to actually spin around and then land on its passenger side and skid across the roadway," says Lt. Kevin F. Zebro of the East Brunswick Police Department. Police say the lights and sirens were going, with 24-year-old EMT Mark Seube at the wheel. The two were on their way to help another town with ambulance transport less than a mile away, when police tell Eyewitness News that a woman driving a Prius hit them at the intersection of Ryder Lane and Cranbury Road in East Brunswick. The ambulance then hit another car before flipping on its side. It's unclear if Patel was wearing a seatbelt. Her EMT partner and the driver of the Prius were injured in the accident, and taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to Lt. Zebro. Patel wanted to eventually become a Physician or a Physician's Assistant. Her family tells Eyewitness News that she also worked as an EMT for the last two years at North Shelton volunteer fire company, and was even honored for her work as an EMT. Chief John Scarpa said in a statement, "Hinal was a very smart, dedicated member of our family and she will be greatly missed. She had many close friends at North Stelton. The members of the North Stelton Volunteer Fire Company are devastated by her loss." The crash still remains under investigation, and police do not know if anyone will be cited or arrested.         Spotswood emergency services official killed in East Brunswick ambulance crash - New Jersey Sunday, July 26, 2015  A Spotswood Emergency Services official was killed Saturday morning in a multi-car wreck in East Brunswick, officials said. Spotswood EMS Director Miriam Barbarise confirmed a member of her department was killed in an ambulance crash but declined further comment and referred the matter to the police department. A law enforcement official told NJ Advance Media the person killed was working her final shift before starting medical school. The law enforcement official asked to remain anonymous because he was not authorized to speak publicly about the incident. Dozens of officials from the East Brunswick Police Department and East Brunswick Fire Department could be seen at the scene of the accident at the intersection of Ryders Lane and Cranbury Road. A person with knowledge of the situation said the Spotswood ambulance was responding to a mutual aid call in East Brunswick. The person declined to be identified because he or she had not been authorized to speak on the matter. At least three vehicles appeared to have been involved in the accident. A Spotswood Emergency Services ambulance remained on its side in the center of Cranbury Road late Saturday morning. Another two vehicles could be seen being lifted onto tow vehicles by emergency personnel as authorities investigated the scene. It was not immediately clear whether any others were injured in the accident. Calls to the East Brunswick Police Department for details were not immediately returned. Seube, 24, of Hamilton, an EMT with Spotswood EMS, was driving the Spotswood ambulance with Hinal Patel, of Piscataway, a 22-year-old EMT, who was as the front seat passenger. The EMTs were responding to assist the East Brunswick Rescue Squad as mutual aid at a motor vehicle crash with injuries in the township. Initial investigation showed that the ambulance, a 2008 Ford van, was traveling west on Ryders Lane at the intersection of Cranbury Road. The ambulance proceeded through the intersection and was struck by a 2013 Toyota Prius traveling south on Cranbury Road driven by 58-year-old Kathleen Meade of East Brunswick. The ambulance overturned and slid into a 2011 Subaru Legacy, driven by 43-year-old Kristen Fahrman of East Brunswick, which was stopped on Ryders Lane in the eastbound lanes. Patel was killed as a result of the collision. Seube and Meade were taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick with nonlife-threatening injuries. Fahrman was not injured. Several emergency service agencies responded to assist at the scene, including the East Brunswick Fire Department District 2, Milltown EMS, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Basic Life Support and the Advanced Life Support Units. (WRDW) -- Richmond County authorities are holding an ambulance driver responsible for a multiple car accident on Gordon Highway near Milledgeville Road. Dispatch says the call came in at 3:47 this afternoon. Deputies say the ambulance did not have a patient inside at the time of the crash. They say the driver ran a red light and hit four cars in the opposite lane of traffic at the intersection of Kissingbower Rd. Investigators say at least two people where injured, but they did not say the extent of those injuries. Deputies say the ambulance driver will face several charges including failure to maintain lanes and disregarding a traffic signal. The investigation is pending while the STAR team and traffic division work on the case.          EMT Killed in NJ Ambulance Crash Was Set to Start Med School Sunday, July 26, 2015  A 22-year-old emergency medical technician was killed in an ambulance accident in New Jersey Saturday morning on what was supposed to be her last day on the job before starting medical school. Hinal Patel, of Piscataway, died in the crash, which occurred at about 8 a.m. as she and another EMT were heading to the scene of a car accident in East Brunswick, police said. The Spotswood ambulance had its emergency lights and sirens operating at the time. A car struck the ambulance, causing it to flip over and hit another car near the intersection of Ryder Lane and Cranbury Road in East Brunswick, police said. Julius Bellafronte, a witness to the crash, said it sounded "like an explosion." Patel was planning to start medical school soon after completing what was to be her last shift as an EMT Saturday, Spotswood EMS Director Miriam Barbarise told NBC 4 New York. "We're really heartbroken right now," she said. "Words can't describe how everybody, including my employees and myself, how we're all feeling." Patel was graduated in May from Rutgers University where she studied cell biology and neuroscience. She had planned to return to Rutgers to attend the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, officials said. Mark Seube of Hamilton, who was driving the ambulance, and Kathleen Meade of East Brunswick, the driver of the car that struck the ambulance, were taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries, authorities said.  The crash remains under investigation, officials said.            Piscataway woman ID'd as EMT killed in ambulance crash - New Jersey Sunday, July 26, 2015  A Piscataway woman working with the Spotswood Emergency Services was killed in an ambulance crash Saturday morning, her mother and police said Saturday. Hinal Patel was killed in a multi-car wreck involving a Spotswood ambulance, her mother Darshana Patel said. Darshana Patel declined further comment. At about 7:57 a.m., East Brunswick police responded to the intersection of Cranbury Road and Ryders Lane on a report of a serious motor vehicle crash, East Brunswick Police Lt. Kevin Zebro said in a news release. Mark C. Seube, 22, of Hamilton, was driving a Spotswood ambulance west on Ryders Lane with its lights activated to assist East Brunswick Rescue Squad at a motor vehicle crash with injuries when the ambulance was struck on the passenger's side by a 2013 Toyota Prius traveling south on Cranbury Road through the intersection, Zebro said. Hinal Patel, 22, of Piscataway, was the front seat passenger of the ambulance, he said. The accident occurred at about 2 a.m. just north of 12300 South. According to Utah Highway Patrol the ambulance was carrying two EMTs and one psychiatric patient. The EMTs were taking the patient to a behavioral health facility when he became violent and attempted to take the wheel, causing the ambulance to roll, according to UHP. The EMTs were taken to Intermountain Medical Center. The patient was taken to Jordan Valley Medical Center. Originally all occupants of the ambulance were reported to be in serious condition. They have since been upgraded to fair condition. According to UHP the ambulance was traveling north from Juab County. It is unknown at this time why the patient was unrestrained and able to take hold of the wheel. If they do find enough evidence, UHP officials say, the patient could most likely face charges of aggravated assault. The crash is still under investigation.         Psychiatric patient causes ambulance to crash on I-15, police say - Utah Sunday, July 26, 2015  DRAPER, Utah (GOOD 4 Utah) - Paramedics in a Juab County ambulance became patients Friday after Utah Highway Patrol Troopers said the psychiatric patient they were transporting caused it to roll. "Somehow the psychiatric patient was able to grab the steering wheel of the ambulance and force it to the side of the road," said UHP Sgt. Todd Royce. UHP told Good 4 Utah, the crash happened about 2:30 in the morning on Northbound  I-15 at 118th South in Draper.  It's unclear why the patient acted out, but all three people inside suffered injuries. "Both the paramedics and the psychiatric patient were taken to a nearby hospital in serious condition," said Sgt. Royce. Juab County emergency officials couldn't say whether or not the psychiatric patients was restrained, but they said all of their patients wear seat belts and a restraint is used on a case by case bases. UHP is investigating the crash and the patient could end up with a ticket. "Whenever someone is driving down the road and a passenger interferes, whether it's an ambulance or a regular passenger car, that person can face charges and in this case we're definitely looking at finishing an investigation and there most likely will be charges filed in this," said Sgt. Royce. Luckily, because of the scarce traffic at 2 a.m. an even more serious crash was avoided. "It was not a big problem for traffic or anything in that area and luckily nobody got seriously hurt and or killed in this situation," said Sgt. Royce. The crash is still under investigation.          UT AMBULANCE ROLLS DUE TO WACKO! -->   No charges filed in ambulance crash in Garden City - South Carolina Friday, July 24, 2015  GARDEN CITY, SC (WBTW) – While traveling with emergency lights on, an ambulance collided with multiple vehicles Wednesday afternoon in Garden City. According to Cpl. Sonny Collins with South Carolina Highway Patrol, the Horry County Fire Rescue ambulance was driving south on Highway 17 Business around 12:15 p.m. when the driver attempted to squeeze between another vehicle and a concrete median. Cpl. Collins says the ambulance side-swiped a mini-van and attempted to go around the stalled traffic and struck an SUV. That SUV was pushed into a pickup truck. The ambulance then ran off the right side of the road and hit a fence. No charges will be filed in the multiple collisions, according to Cpl. Collins. Battalion Chief Brian Van Aernem, with Horry County Fire Rescue reports four people were transported to the hospital following the incident, including two medics. Van Aernem says the victims were “banged up pretty bad,” but no one suffered like threatening injuries.          Ambulance involved in major wreck in SW Houston Wednesday, July 22, 2015  By Cathy Hernandez HOUSTON - An ambulance was involved in a major accident Tuesday morning in southwest Houston. The crash happened around 9:30 a.m. near West Bellfort and Fondren. A sedan and an HFD EMS ambulance were involved, with the sedan sustaining the most damage. We're told the ambulance, with lights and sirens on, was responding to a medical call and was halfway through the intersection when the car crashed into it. The driver of the car, who suffered minor injuries, told KPRC 2 he didn't hear or see the ambulance. "We have more people injured as a result of motor vehicle accidents than we do in fires every year," said HFD Capt. Bruce Greenberg. "You should slow down, you should pay attention to your surroundings and keep off the text messages." He also said that if you see an ambulance, pull over to the right and stop. The two paramedics on board the ambulance also only suffered minor injuries. No one was transported to the hospital.
