MIDTOWN — FDNY is on the scene of a fire from two manholes on 37th St and 8th Ave.
Thick, black smoke was rising from 37th St. at 10 a.m. Tuesday. EMS and FDNY are still on the scene 45 minutes later.
No injuries have been reported, though the building located at 266 W. 37th St. has lost power. ConEd has been called in.
This is the same block where several other manhole fires took out power only several weeks ago. On May 6, fire was seen shooting up from underneath a manhole cover before the cover shot off with a “deafening boom.”
