Horacio Rodríguez Larreta, from the PRO party, appeared to win today's mayoral election in the key district of Buenos Aires city, but not by a big enough margin to avoid a run-off vote later this month, early official returns showed.

The chief of the PRO opposition party Mauricio Macri today celebrated the victory of his political force in the city of Buenos Aires after his cabinet chief Horacio Rodríguez Larreta won easily in the mayoral elections.
Mariano Recalde, the Victory Front’s candidate, spoke this afternoon from the party’s bunker and said “we are happy because every time the people express themselves in democratic and free elections, we celebrate.”
Legislator candidate Juan Cabandié has said the Victory Front (FpV) improved its performance in the Buenos Aires city general elections, compared to the results obtained in the PASO primaries.
Buenos Aires city Mayor candidate Martín Lousteau (ECO) has thanked the Radical party and the Civic Coalition for their support in achieving a runoff against PRO’s Horacio Rodríguez Larreta in the city mayoral elections.
Primary elections ended in La Pampa on a day of accusations as Kirchnerites reported the absence of authorities in several polling stations. According to early results, former Peronist governor Carlos Verna, won against Fabián Bruna, Governor Oscar Jorge’s municipal affairs secretary.
Gubernatorial elections in La Rioja province closed today and official results were awaited. Unofficial figures showed Kirchnerite candidate Sergio Casas in the first place, to succeed Governor Beder Herrera, followed in the second place by Julio Martínez, who headed a joint Radical-Dissident Peronist ticket supported by a broad array of opposition parties.
José Manuel de la Sota’s candidate, Juan Schiaretti, has won the Córdoba governmental elections, beating both the UCR, PRO and Civic Front coalition and the Victory Front.
"We are going to defend what these models are," Casas said after casting his vote. The current vice of governor Luis Beder Herrera added that kirchnerism "defends people's interests."
The Corrientes Electoral Board has informed preliminary results for the provincial legislator elections will be released at 8.30 pm, adding the voting process did not register any major inconvenient.
