VIDEO (NOT MINE) ST PATRICK's CATHEDRAL - History, etc. ( Good Photography) and EASTER PARADE ( MY VIDEO)

St. Patrick's Cathedral was started back in the late 1800's as another "Folly" ( like Alaska was "Seward's Folly" and the steamboat was "Fulton's Folly" and so on)

When they began it was all farmland up here! At that time the City had 200,000 Catholics and more were coming every day

But the planners knew some day this would all be congested too and the Cathedral would provide an oasis of calm and a place to pray amidst the hustle and bustle of what would be Midtown Manhattan ( now with its weird pencil super-high buildings)

So , here is this very professionally made video

And, just for fun, the Cathedral area at Easter Time--when the Easter Parade of bonnets and other regalia takes place

I come down on the subway to the South End of Central Park
and then look for bonnets etc.

Shown here is just a smidgen of the Parade on Fifth Avenue
