The other day we were out doing a streets drill and these 2 young boys came running and ran alongside the engine on the sidewalk. Who is going to Firehouse Expo - Baltimore this year? I had thought about bringing Engine Co. Apparel on its maiden expo tour in Baltimore but I am not certain it is the right decision. Sure, the whole issue with tensions in Baltimore are one issue, but the bigger issue is the continued decrease (perceived) in attendees. What do you all think? Should I make the trip? Should I bother with a booth? Should I just head to the Brotherhood Bash in Little Italy?

On this Memorial Day weekend, enjoy yourselves and time with your families. Enjoy a BBQ, picnic, or other event outside if the weather is nice. Live, laugh, and love. Think to yourself how fortunate you are for having great weather, great family, and great friends.
Last, but not least, remember and share what Memorial Day is all about...Memorial Day is a National holiday honoring members of the U.S. Armed Forces who died in wars and is celebrated on the last Monday of May.

    • The Fire Critic Mike Boyk, I have commented on this locally...I have seen a huge change in my department where we do wash gear after every fire. It is an interesting cultural change that has happened locally and I am proud of it. Unfortunately, we only have one set of gear, but we are good at keeping it as clean as possible. That is a positive change!
