You hear a lot about our friends at CAL FIRE in wildfire and other news... but what do you know about their name?

Did You Know? The majority of LAFD snake calls occur on warm evenings, close to homes (or on patios) in neighborhoods near wilderness.
Don't be frightened, just be careful!

  • Frangelico Jonah 33 species of snakes in California. 6 are venomous species & all of those are rattlesnakes. Snakes are very interesting but require caution & respect. The drought makes them leave their normal haunts to search for food & water ....so don't leave your dog/cat's food out on the patio!!http://sbsc.wr.usgs.gov/products/htms/snake.aspx

    • Los Angeles FD Frangelico Jonah - thanks for the reply and information. That's a good link that highlights the most important information (and much better than the one I was about to share.). Please have a great weekend, and make it a safe one! ^BH

  • Joy Katleen Sorry, BH, can't go with you on this one. Even the most harmless garter snake frightens me. Especially when it comes up on my porch. Not that I've ever called the fire department over one, but still... Me + snake = EEEEEEKKKKK!!!

How Many?
The number of children in the USA who died last year after being left unattended in a hot car will astound you - and nearly every one was preventable. ^BH

130 ‪#‎LAFD‬ firefighters battled a Major Emergency fire at 4600 N Riverton in Toluca Lake. The accidental fire started in a 2 story apartment building being demolished when a cutting tool sparked. The large, intense fire quickly spread to the adjacent apartment building. #LAFD fought hard to save the building which did receive heavy damage. No significant injuries but sadly, one pet perished in the fire.
