Thank you District Council 9 New York IUPAT, Painters and Allied Trades Apprentice Program members for doing an outstanding job last week working with HEART 9/11 on painting and restoring the
New York City Fire Museum. The partnership once again was tremendously successful. HEART 9/11 collaborated with the DC9 Apprentice Program in Brooklyn’s Gerritsen Beach after Hurricane Sandy to help rebuild and restore damaged homes, community center and local church. HEART 9/11 encourages the public to visit this “Hidden Gem” at 278 Spring Street and see what we have done to restore the beauty of this old firehouse and vastly improve the visitor experience.
Drivers heading into Rockland slowed Wednesday afternoon to take in the spectacle of the giant girder sitting mid-air over the Hudson and then positioned by the I Lift NY floating super crane. The 12-foot-high girder arrived last week by barge from the Port of Coeymans, near Albany. This is the first of 134 sections of girders that will be used for the project. They will now begin to arrival almost weekly. ‪#‎UnionLabor‬ at its best.
Huge steel girders were lifted into place near the bridge’s Rockland County side; dozens more will be added before the bridge can be open to traffic at the end of...

HEART 9/11 believes the NYC Fire Museum traces the history of the best Fire Department in the world. The museum is critical in the education of children in fire prevention and safety. HEART 9/11’s connection to the NYC Fire Museum is the memorial to the 343 members of the FDNY who made the Supreme Sacrifice on 9/11. HEART 9/11 salutes New York City’s “Bravest” and we vow to “Never Forget”.
A big thank you to the non-profit organization H.E.A.R.T. 9/11 for helping organize the incredible work that is taking place at the Fire Museum this week! We ar...

HEART 9/11 begins our General meetings pledging allegiance to the flag. HEART 9/11 members have saluted the flag during times of celebration and times of sorrow. We remember the flags flown across the country after 9/ 11 when all Americans rallied around that flag and in support of the work of the World Trade Center Rescue an...

NY City Fire Museum Renovation
HEART 9/11 will begin a week of work at the New York City Fire Museum, 278 Spring Street - Monday morning. HEART 9/11 will provide the skilled work force needed to renovate the museum – floor, paint, and plumbing upgrades. Thank you goes out to the Painters’ Union who will be working with HEART 9/11 volunteers painting and repairing this gem of a museum.
The collection of the New York City Fire Museum contains artifacts like leather buckets that were key equipment until the early 1800s, and inscribed horns used for parades and to drink beer from.

June 6, 1944
June 6 will forever be the anniversary of one of the most fateful days in modern history: the Allied D-Day invasion of Normandy. By day’s end American, British, and Canadian troops had breached Germany’s Atlantic Wall defenses and established a foothold in Western Europe. With Soviet armies rolling in from the east Adolf Hitler’s Nazi regime was caught. Defeat was now only a matter of time. Today the United States and its World War II allies celebrate the 71st anniversary of D-Day. HEART 9/11 salutes the men and women in the military who have made the ultimate sacrifice and those that serve and keep us safe today. We will “Never Forget”.

Today, thirteen years ago, we marked the official end of the 9/11 Rescue/Recovery Mission. May 30, 2002 has special meaning to those of us who, with the help of our Countrymen, picked ourselves up from our knees to begin a mission that would not only inform our life stories but also define a generation of America and the world. I remember on that day we walked proudly up the steel bridge behind the flag draped empty stokes basket and the last piece of steel to the beat of a l...
