FDNY douses deli fire; streets blocked near Curtis HS

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- The FDNY made quick work of a fire at a deli in New Brighton on Friday morning that has temporarily blocked some streets near Curtis High School.
Daniel Low Terrace, Hamilton Avenue and Crescent Avenue are cordoned off due to the emergency response.
No injuries were reported in the fire called at 5:44 a.m. in the 1-story Curtis Hill Delicatessen building at 10 Daniel Low Terrace, according to a spokesman for the FDNY.
A response of 12 units and about 60 firefighters brought the blaze under control in about a half hour, at 6:18 a.m., the FDNY spokesman said.
