FDNY rescues two children stranded on ice at Bayside Marina in Queens [VIDEO]
BAYSIDE, Queens (PIX11) — Two children stranded on ice at the Bayside Marina in Queens were rescued Saturday — and it was all captured on video.
According to FDNY, the incident happened around 4:30 p.m. on the Douglaston side of the Bayside Marina in Queens.
Firefighters arrived to find two children stuck on the ice. The children, whose identities were not revealed, were pulled to safety. They were not injured in the incident.
Neighbor Mary Marino captured the rescue with her cell phone.
Temperatures were in the 20s today, but expected to drop tonight and may possibly get to the single digits by Sunday. Hypothermia and frostbite are both major risk factors for New Yorkers this weekend and are encouraged to take every precaution.
