Couple Therapy Training Program Mini-Workshop Series
DANIEL SHAW, LCSW
The Traumatizing Narcissist in the Couple Relationship
Daniel Shaw, LCSW, is the author of the recent book ‘Traumatic Narcissism: Relational Systems of Subjugation’, published by Routledge in their Relational Perspectives Book Series. Shaw explores the traumatizing narcissist’s ‘system of subjugation,’ and its impact on a vulnerable partner, on the couple relationship, and on the therapist. He traces the struggle of the subjugated partner to overcome developmental trauma, to assert his/her own subjectivity, and to develop intersubjective relating.
This presentation will be valuable to individual and group as well as couple therapists. Participants will be invited to share relevant vignettes from their own work with couples and individuals.
Daniel Shaw, LCSW is Faculty and Supervisor, The National Institute for the Psychotherapies (NIP), New York City; Faculty, The Westchester Institute for the Study of Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy; Adjunct Clinical Supervisor, Smith College of Social Work. He maintains private practice in New York City and in Nyack, NY.
Fee for the workshop will be $15, payable by check or credit card. Light refreshments will be served. PRE-REGISTRATION IS ADVISED.
