People say there are no wheelchair accessible bathrooms
Depends on what movie they are showing of course but they show a lot of good movies you won't find anywhere else

- Listed in Let's Do Something Fun..In NYC!, 2014!What an awesome experience. If you see a movie here, begin lining up a solid 15 minutes before the showtime. You should try to get up to the balcony, front and center, for the best view.
The curtains open, and you've got a great view. It feels like you could be Don Draper skipping work and watching a movie instead.
Sometimes you can catch a movie that will eventually be nominated for best picture that isn't widely released yet.
I can't recommend this spot more. It's like a beacon of hope in the midst of tourist insanity in the immediate area. - Elizabeth H.

This is in my top three of favourite movie theatres still operating in the city. If you get a chance, definitely go see something here. They only have one screen, but every so often it'll be a good movie. And the curtain still opens and closes! It, obviously, doesn't have to - but it does! Which adds to the beauty, in my opinion.
The fact that there's balcony seating is what makes it so lovely and appealing. And with Central Park so close by, this is just a romantic day waiting to happen.- This has always been my favorite movie theater in Manhattan. (The Landmark comes in second.) It's all about the front row balcony seat and their movie selection.

Older theater both in terms of style and clientele but a nice selection of films, location next to the plaza just off the park and convenient to midtown.- The popcorn queen of midtownThe popcorn queen of midtown

This review is from the perspective of a New Yorker -
Order your tickets online to avoid any line. It may have only been my experience here, but the crowd is exceptionally snobby. I had a man behind me that was talking during the entire preview. I pulled out my phone to check something during the introductory credits and this man reached over and hit me in my shoulder. I'm a petite young woman and I was honestly in shock because it did actually hurt my collar bone.
If you live in NYC I wouldn't bother unless you love hanging out with rude people from out of town. Unfortunately for me it was the only place showing The Imitation Game in the city...- Regina D.

A quaint, even romantic getaway in the heart of the busiest and most tourist-ridden neighborhood in Manhattan. The staff is always friendly, and the atmosphere is charming, of a bygone era of moviegoing experiences. I feel like lots of the older people who live in the neighborhood frequent this theater for that reason. It only shows one film at a time (usually independent, but not always) so check online to see what's playing before you head there. The mezzanine is also unique, and all seats have good views. If you want to feel like Carrie Bradshaw and have your own date with the city, you must come here!- Marc H.

Current films for many offerings and on Tuesday's special prices. The seating and entrance funky but hey for $3 to see a current film how can anyone complain?- Venkata M.

Great place to come on a date. The entrance is very small but feels different. Mostly foreign and independent films are screened here. Huge theater inside, much much bigger than others like AMC and Loew's.- Mike S.

One of my favorite theaters. They usually have good movies that don't disappoint. It is an older crowd but I don't mind. Before and after I enjoy sitting around the Pulitzer Fountain to people watch AWAY from the tourists.- I can't believe I've never been here before. Such a NY gem. Great seating and friendly staff. I will definitely be coming back to this theater soon!
- It's a perfectly serviceable theater. I do like Charle M's thought-provoking Ziegfeld = Marilyn Monroe and Paris = Audrey Hepburn comparison, but I just don't know if it holds up quite that well. It is just a bit too plain for that. I did enjoy my filmgoing experience here, but one of the first things I said after taking in the auditorium before seeing "Philomena" tonight was "It's no Ziegfeld." I'm glad it still exists and that the owner is a good movie curator, and I'd rather see a movie here than the same movie at the AMCs in Midtown, but I don't know if I would go out of my way to see a movie here simply because it was here.
