Fire Lieutenant Named Hero of the Month by Brooklyn Borough President

Lt. Robert Whalen, who saved a young boy from a fire on Nov. 25, was named Hero of the Month by Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams on Dec. 17.
“We cannot say enough about New York City firefighters,” Borough President Adams said during the ceremony at Borough Hall. “They are in the business of saving lives.”
Dozens of firefighters from his firehouse, Engine 283, attended the ceremony to applaud the hero.
“I’m accepting this on behalf of all the men and women working that day,” Lt. Whalen said.
