This is serious stuff, get it? Street Posters Telegraph Message OK

Somber colors on a rainy day make you more aware of the "seriousness"--I would say melodramatic nature of these shows.

I have never seen either and have no intention of doing so.

Just out of curiosity, let me see what "Longmire" is ( or was)--OK , IS.--It is in its second season...

Longmire is a crime drama television series that premiered on June 3, 2012, on A&E.[1] The series was developed by John Coveny and Hunt Baldwin and is based on the "Walt Longmire" series of mystery novels written by best-selling author Craig Johnson.[2]

Synopsis

The series follows Sheriff Walt Longmire of Wyoming's fictional Absaroka County (pronounced ab-suh-ro-ka) who returns to work following the death of his wife. With the help of daughter Cady Longmire, newly hired Deputy Victoria "Vic" Moretti, and best friend Henry Standing Bear, Walt must investigate a series of major crimes in his jurisdiction while preparing to run for re-election against Branch Connally, a young deputy in the department who wants Walt's job.

Cast

Main

  • Robert Taylor as Walt Longmire, the long-term sheriff of Absaroka County. Laconic and introspective with a strong sense of duty and justice, his character is throwback to the iconic lone hero of classical Westerns. Walt's wife died under mysterious circumstances a year before the series started and his grief for her loss fuels his isolation and self judgement.
  • Katee Sackhoff as Victoria "Vic" Moretti, a sheriff's deputy who formerly worked as a homicide detective in the Philadelphia Police Department, and recently moved to Absaroka County to follow her husband, who works as an executive at a natural gas company. Vic's marriage however is clearly failing and she harbors unspoken romantic feelings for Walt.
  • Lou Diamond Phillips as Henry Standing Bear, a Cheyenne who is Walt's best friend and confidant. He is the proprietor of the Red Pony Cafe, a local tavern and restaurant, as well as an expert tracker.
  • Cassidy Freeman as Cady Longmire, Walt's daughter, an attorney who works for a local law firm.
  • Bailey Chase as Branch Connally, a sheriff's deputy who (beginning with the pilot episode) is running for sheriff, and who is the son of Barlow Connally, a wealthy and powerful man.
  • Adam Bartley as "The Ferg" Ferguson, a somewhat bumbling sheriff's deputy whom Walt hired as a favor to Ferg's father.

OK, bluntly I don't feel like I have missed anything...as to "Newsroom" we will just have to wait and see
