Forcella (Park Avenue South- Flatiron)

Very swank looking little place

Let me see what Yelper's say--OK, this is a Pizza place really, mostly very good reviews with a number of complaints ( "music blasting...obnoxious manager") etc.

Read them all is my advice

Love that there is a Forcella now near me  Have always been a big fan of the Bowery location.  This one did not disappoint.  Excellent amounts of good quality sauce and cheese.  I recommend spending a few extra bucks for the Margarita Extra- it was definitely more flavorful than the Magarita mushroom.

Only let down:  appetizer of rice balls.  Served with a small salad and corn with the creamiest dressing, which tasted of Miracle Whip.  Yuck.  Did not go well with the rice balls.  Chef needs to serve the rice balls with their good tomato sauce- then this dish would be very good.  I am totally biased after having the best rice ball of my life in Italy, so to me, these were barely so-so.

Service was incredibly excellent and friendly all-around.
Tips:  From 3-7 they have a 2 for 1 happy hour.  Saved 30% on Savored --- so that pretty bad appetizer turned out to be free!

Ehhhhh. I live near this place, and was craving pizza so I finally tried it tonight. I was pretty disappointed.

The service was great. The food, on the other hand, wasn't that good. Especially the pizza.

I don't think I'll be coming here again.

I thought the pizza here was fine, but there are probably 10 places nearby that I like better.  Vezzo, for example.  For me this is a personal preference in pizza.  I prefer a crunchy thin crust pizza with a lot of red sauce and Forcella pizza's have a thicker crust.

I will say that I appreciated their original approach to pizza toppings.  I had an Arugula, Goat Cheese and lemon slice pizza which was light and refreshing and great for the summer.  It was quite good.  Also their buffala mozzarella and ceasar salad were tasty.

As for the interior, it was a bit too Vegas-y for me.  Lot's of bling decorations and the predictable loop of Sinatra songs.  I'll go back again, but not my first choice for pizza.

I came here at the recommendation of a coworker last week and I was not disappointed.  We happened to meet the chef who was a friendly, authentic Italian! He brought us out a great appetizer that I didn't even see on the  menu - a great parmesan cheese basket filled with a fresh yummy salad.  We ordered the Porta Capuana pizza which came with melt in your mouth Burrata mozzarella cheese and delicious dough! I loved it! Will definitely be coming back.  The restaurants if fun and lively!

We have a blast here because they are always busy with a cool clientele and perfect location for us. Food has always been great. The wine and the drinks on par. I'll bet it is crowded when you think about going so, go early.

Smartly styled bar with a knowledgeable bar-tender.  The wines are "2fer" during happy hour.  Nice selection and generous pour.  We did not eat, hence the missing star.

We shared several of the appetizers and they were good. They must have had a sale on mayo. Everything came with a side of it! Not very Italian if you ask me. Pastas were good. Butternut squash risotto was ok. The squash was too undercooked. The Porto capuano pizza was good. It had plenty of stuff on it, but the crust was undercooked. It had a nice char on it, but the bottom was just soggy. I guess the oven must be too hot because it chars the crust but does not fully cook it. The servers were nice, but we had to ask what the specials were and we had to ask for bread after we saw that other tables got bread and we didn't. The chocolate cake and the fried pizza with Nutella were great. Decent wine list with a number of options in the $30-$40 range. The decor was a little dated. The red and black theme is not very Italian. The place actually reminded me of a brothel. They just need to change the color of the walls to some earthy tones. We will definitely give them another try.

I decidedly hate the decor, and don't understand why they don't offer anything besides wine to drink, but whatever.

The service was fantastic. We booked through Savored and were not treated any differently than anyone else. This might have been because we (my sibs and baby brother's best friend, whom we were congratulating on their graduation from Northwestern a couple weeks back) were the only guests there when we arrived (10 minutes late) for our 1pm lunch reservation. Baby brother #1 was just coming from cricket practice (We're Jamaicans, okay, so just hush.) and the waiter kindly stored his GINORMOUS cricket bag (you have any idea how heavy that ish is?) for us with a smile.

He also sold us on much more pizza and appetizers we'd need, but that was the Savored reservation coming in. He was gunning for his tips. That's cool, sir. We see you hustling. We see you.

The pizzas were different than any I'd had before, purposely slightly burned, but they were delicious. I had the Funghi since I don't eat meat. It was phenomenal. I could not finish my pizza (no one could...not even the ravenous cricket player, who had a custom made pizza with honey), and so we took them home and polished them off like city rats after returning from the Celebrate Brooklyn Concert that night. Delicious, man. Delicious. The only thing MORE delicious was their house made bread and the olive oil tapenade.

Great lunch experience. I'd highly recommend it to anyone.

I was looking for a nice dinner and had an awful time. The bar area smelled funny, the AC is not enough for the summer heat, the wine was not kept properly so it went a little bad and after a few bites I saw a hair under the tomato.
We did have a great waitress that did what she could to help. The manager could have cared less, he overheard when we asked about the AC and said loud enough so we could hear him "It feels fine to me"
it's not! Fix your AC, store your wine and keep a clean restaurant!

Stopped in here for a shot of Jack Daniel's on a bar hopping night right after Milk and Honey. For some reason it looked like a bar only for Europeans and Russians because those were the only type of people in there.

Never made it to the back but I guess it looked nice. Got my shot in a timely manner and I was off, re-energized and ready to go.  ;-)

14 hours later and I'm still full.   Feel like a tick at a blood bank...kind of happy that I am so full but also a bit woozy and uncomfortable.

Here's the run down of what my friends and I consumed...
Cocktails:  I may be spelling these wrong but we had a Biciletta (bubbly), a Clementina (sweet) and La Mikana (tart).  All very awesome.

    Food:
Patatine- awesome truffle & parmesan fries
We each ordered a custom Montanara pizza- so freaking good!
    Pizza 1- artichoke and olive
Pizza 2- speck and truffle oil
Pizza 3- sausage and spicy salami

I literally didn't speak for 20 minutes, I just focused on consuming half my pizza and then a slice each from i miei amici.  I was an eating machine.

Then we stupidly ordered desserts, even though we were full.  But we ate everything.  We had:
    Tiramisu- delicious and light
Millefoglie- two words to describe this:  Jesus wept.   What I mean by that is that it was so amazing, that I'm sure my friend Jesus Ramirez would cry if he ate it.
Angioletti alla nutella- fried dough, nutella, powdered sugar.  Does one need anything more?

Loved it.  Service was great.  Definitely recommend it. But seriously, I don't think I need to eat for another six days.

Hehehe! Yummy!! I decided to drop by on a Saturday with a friend for lunch with their 30% off deal of savored, and so glad I did. Yes, I know they have a better deal on groupon, but I was too lazy to go purchase it, since savored is just a click of a button and woosh - I'm done! I would definitely come back here even if they were off all these discount foodie websites.

Let me start with the hostess - she was a total sweetheart from start til end. She didn't even want me to go through the trouble of trying to pull up my 30% discount (thanks ATT for shit service), and pulled another discount from her phone for me to save the trouble. Sorry I forgot your name, but thanks doll! The waiter was also a sweetheart himself. He was actually sort of silly and kept making mistakes by giving my entrees away to the table next to me, but he was so apologetic in a goofy way that we just ended up laughing it off. He even apologized with a nice cup of espresso after he overheard me telling my friend "I love espresso, but i don't wanna pee later, should I get it?" HAHA. Cool beans, thanks for making my bladder scream to me later on, my dear waiter!

The food? We ordered the mussels, and while not the best, it was very flavorful. It was just a litttleee overcooked. My my entree, I ordered the penne a la vodka and I usually never order it, but I derno, I was just feelin' it. The dish looked like very small, but it was VERY filling and so so creamy, and so so sooo full of flavor. I loved it, loved it, loved it. My friend had the pizza with the salami? over, and it was by far the tastiest salami over pizza I've ever had in my life... but that could also be because I'm not a pizza gal. But whatever, I loved my meal.that I went home and bought a groupon right after, hehheheh!

You know the thing about global warming...IT'S HOT.

AIR CONDITIONING PEOPLE.  Get it.  Besides that, came here on a date and had a nice time.  It was a bit warm in the summer's heat, but we were seated immediately; however, we were not given menus for about 5 minutes and I was forced to make conversation about movies and such, time which would have been better filled with talk of pizza and pasta.

Moving on, we get the menus and choices seems solid.  A good variety of pizza toppings and pasta styles.  We went with the regular pizza, NO BASIL.  Who likes to pick those tasteless greens off the top of a dish anyway.  We waited for another 15 minutes as the pizza was being made on the spot.  It came out piping hot and delicious looking.

The food was a 5, the service was a 2.  Disheveled and mostly awkward, our thick rimmed glasses-wearing server creeped out my date and was overall pretty unattentive to the wants and needs of our table.  Ambiance was ok with music that was a bit too club-like for a normal Italian restaurant.  One other big issue, the place does quite a bit of delivery work (good for them), but the delivery boys go right throught the dining area.  It was distracting and awkward as they shimmied through tables trying to make their way to those smart enough to order online.  Overall, a big 3 in my book.  Go enjoy some good pizza, but if I were you, I'd hit up seamless web and enjoy it while watching the new season of Breaking Bad.

    Excellent across the board!
As a pizza snob I was blown away by how good the Margherita pizza was ...even for delivery! I can't wait to try it fresh in the restaurant. They were quick, competent and kind. You would be a fool to not patronize this place.

At 5:30pm on a Monday the music was blasting. The waitress said that bartender and manager love the music obscenely and obnoxiously loud - and that people complain all the time. Seriously, this is a restaurant not a club and it was 5:30. This was reason enough for me to never go back. I ordered a salad with shrimp with dressing on the side- but the salad came with dressing on it. The menu said $5 extra for shrimp but on the check I was charged $7 and was told that they haven't updated the menu yet (I was given back the $2 after I made a big stink) but really......
Prices are expensive with my salad being $16 and my friends (with added chicken) being $17. Come on! This place was definitely not work with price and I wouldn't recommend.

We were able to get a last minute Saturday evening reservation for a group of 6. The restaurant seems kind of like a club with the loud house music and modern decor (the waitress even joked it kind of looked like a strip club...), but I didn't mind as we were upstairs and in a separate area towards the front. Had to try the fried pizza (montanara), but wasn't blown away. I didn't love the flavor. Also had spicy salame pizza which was pretty good, as it usually is. Surprisingly, sliders and fries were awesome, as was the burrata appetizer.

I also ate some of my friends cacio e pepe (and by some I mean a lot), and it was also nice, but creamier than the traditional dish. We were too stuffed to order dessert but our waitress brought out a few for the table which was a nice gesture. Service was OK. With so many stellar pizza restaurants in the city, this spot is a good go-to for a group or if you are in the area, but not one of my favorites.

Update - actually dined here last weekend, as opposed to shoving my face in the privacy of my own apartment.

Guess what?  EVERYONE HERE IS ITALIAN!!!

    Like EVERYONE.

And they have awesome, super Italian accents.  Not Jersey Italian.  Real Italian.

    Does it get any better?

The Montanara pizza, which is their specialty, is definitely one of the best pizzas I've ever had.  The dough is deep fried, then shaped into a pizza, and then baked.  This makes for a really nice crispy crust, but a still doughy crust.  Really really good.

Came here with a group of 10 people and the owner / manager of the restaurant was great - very good service and also gave us free dessert with our meals.  Good stuff.  I liked the salads here too - tried all of them and would recommend all.
