LINCOLN, Neb. — A man thought to be impersonating a police officer was actually a volunteer firefighter investigating a reported car fire.
Lincoln Journal Star reported that firefighters, with the Malcolm (Neb.) Volunteer Fire Department, were looking for a burning car when a 60-year-old woman reported seeing a man pull over another woman. The woman told police the man was driving a pickup with a blue light on top of the cab but no other markings.
The woman who she thought had been pulled over was helping look for the burning car, according to the report. Crews didn't find a car and the firefighter in the pickup drove off to another call.
"Every now and then we do have these situations where someone tries to pull, especially women, over," Sheriff Terry Wagner said. "She did the right thing. I'm glad we did an investigation."
