Daniel Steven Holmes IMO, private ambulance can do its part by transporting only. In areas without paid Fire Departments crosstrained Police/EMT's or Police/Medics can be the first on scene until the transport unit gets there and takes them. In other areas that do have paid Fire it should be Fire/EMS with no private ambulance.

Since Hurricane Katrina in 2005, New Orleans Emergency Medical Services has occupied several makeshift quarters around the city. A new 14,000 square foot, two-story facility now contains all the day-to-day operations for the agency.
New Orleans Emergency Medical Services recently held a ribbon cutting ceremony for their new headquarters.
