Snow -- from Councilman Mark Levine ( he is good at snow jobs)-- and Uh-Oh, big SUBWAY CHANGES AND INTERRUPTIONS PLANNED

Lawrence --
This weekend there is potential for a significant winter storm beginning Saturday morning into Sunday evening. In New York City and Long Island the forecast for snowfall totals is 6 to 12 inches bringing potentially blizzard conditions to our region. The National Weather Service continues to monitor the situation, and I encourage you to avoid all non-essential travel.
I also encourage you to take this opportunity to check in with your loved ones, neighbors and the elderly in your community. You can visit nyc.gov/oem for updated information as this storm progresses. You can prepare for the storm through regular updates provided by Notify NYC. To monitor the progress of plow vehicles in your neighborhood, please go to Plow NYC for information.
I also want you to be aware of upcoming service changes planned for the A, C, and 3 lines planned between January 22- January 29. Please see the flyers below for how the service changes will affect your commute. For timely MTA transit updates, you can visit mta.info.
Have a safe weekend,
Mark

HOPE Counts
The NYC Department of Homeless Services’ (DHS) annual street homeless count, HOPE 2016, will take place on Monday, January 25th, from 10 pm to 4 am. DHS must conduct a point-in-time estimate of the homeless population within the final ten days of January.  By conducting a count during the coldest time of the year, DHS is able to produce an estimate of the most vulnerable portion of the unsheltered homeless population who are either unwilling or unable to access emergency shelter.  To ensure success, DHS needs approximately 3,000 volunteers to help survey the number of homeless individuals living on city streets and in parks and other public spaces throughout New York City. We hope all of you will consider participating in this extraordinary citywide effort. You can sign up here.
