HOPE Counts
The NYC Department of Homeless Services’ (DHS) annual street homeless count,
HOPE 2016, will take place on Monday, January 25th, from 10 pm to 4 am. DHS must conduct a point-in-time estimate of the homeless population within the final ten days of January. Â By conducting a count during the coldest time of the year, DHS is able to produce an estimate of the most vulnerable portion of the unsheltered homeless population who are either unwilling or unable to access emergency shelter. Â To ensure success, DHS needs approximately 3,000 volunteers to help survey the number of homeless individuals living on city streets and in parks and other public spaces throughout New York City. We hope all of you will consider participating in this extraordinary citywide effort. You can sign up
here.
