During such times of current senseless violence being demonstrated across this great nation of ours, we as EMS providers should consciously remind ourselves, our sirens are the first auditory representation of salvation for the survivors immediately following a terrorist act. The sound of a siren is an immediate auditory symbolic representation of hope and survival in the midst of tragedy - that no matter what evil is being acted upon the innocent, the best of our society will care and provide comfort for those in need. Be safe out there my brothers and sisters.

Our prayers for the victims of the Paris terrorist tragedies. May we also keep in our thoughts and prayers those french EMS, fire, and police responders who have had to confront these horrific life changing events. EMS is the light of hope, but this flame of hope can burn us slowly none the less over the years in trying to make sense of such senseless madness. Stay safe and keep a constant vigilance - for sadly such soft targets may only be the beginning of a trend to terrorize the innocent

In memory of Colorado 30 year veteran paramedic Rick Hartley who tragically died last evening in a traffic accident while attending a patient in the back of an ambulance. Rest in peace brother.
4 die in Colorado Springs today from a psycho shooter. Last night I worked a shift which was wayyyyyy to strangely quiet for a night before Halloween (before the shooting). Crews at AMR in Colorado Springs told me in the paramedic lounge at at a hospital we transported to earlier in the wee hours of the night, " it is way too quiet out there." Careful what you wish for. Damn! I hate when Murphy's law actually works. Be safe out there my brothers and sisters. I feel your pain.... and lack of sleep. God bless you... as certainly nobody else will. Cheers.
