Adding muscle to the Award Wapsi movement, around 23 filmmakers will return their awards today.
Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro director, Kundan Shah, is among the 23 filmmakers who will return their awards at the press conference that will be held on Thursday, November 5, 2015, at the Press Club. The press conference is being organised by the FTII.

Kundan Shah confirmed the news. He said, "I am returning my awards along with several other filmmakers." However, when asked for the reason as to why he was returning the award, Kundan Shah skirted the question by saying that he would speak about the issue in the press conference.
In a dramatic development, 10 prominent filmmakers had earlier returned various awards and honours they had received, protesting impediments to freedom of speech and expression and showing solidarity with the agitating FTII students.

The filmmakers who have returned their awards include the likes of Anand Patwardhan, Dipankar Banerjee, Paresh Kamdar, Nishtha Jain, Kirti Nakhwa, Harshavardhan Kulkarni, Hari Nair, Rakesh Sharma, Indraneel Lahiri and Lipika Singh Darai.
