Early morning in Tomonoura as the fishermen return to shore. Fish are hung up to dry in the wind and sunshine on Tomonoura’s seafront. This most-ancient method of preserving fish for consumption during less bountiful times is still popular across Japan. Many traditional Japanese recipes include dried shrimp, sardine, herring or tuna. #sunrise #japan #fishing

Head down from exhaustion on the first ascent of the North West Face of Link Sar West (6938m) in Pakistan Himalayas. The cornices in the background are just unbelievable, especially given they overhang a lot of the route. We're about 100m from getting off the face but the heat radiation, altitude, and big packs brought us to our knees- this was our fourth day out from Base Camp with another three more still to go. I'll always remember the pain of that day. #alpine #himlayas #climb#pakistan #climbing #alpinism more

Canosa di Puglia, Italy. At Easter, on Saturday, the procession of the Sorrowfuls is such a unique and ancient ritual. One of the most representative events of Apulia's religious traditions. Through the narrow streets of Canosa, 300 black-dressed women (the Sorrowfuls or sorrow women), with head covered by a veil, follow the statue of the Sorrow Virgin. Silence and solemnity is broken by the women singing out Stabat Mater. Here is a portrait of one of the veiled women behind the Virgin#apulia #faith #portrait #tradition #black__and_white #culture #procession #religion #ritual more

Ben is one of these people who want to know and control where their food comes from. A few years ago, he decided to go further in self-sustainability by hunting his own meat. Each fall, he leaves Salt Lake City and drives into the mountains of northeastern Utah to hunt elk and game birds. With a horse in tow, he hikes up the 10,000-foot high mountains where he can spend up to a week tracking elk. On this picture we can see him train a horse he just bought for the upcoming hunting season. #landscape #usa #cowboy #letsexplore #discover #travel #culture #horse more

Off Barracuda Point on Sipadan Island, Malaysia a school of barracuda slowly swim past a shocked diver. Juvenile barracuda school in groups like this for defense as well as group hunting. Barracuda will eat nearly anything, including fish larger than they are; they can crush a fish with their powerful jaws. #barracuda #diver #scuba #sipadan #sipadanisland
