Firefighters and 999 call handlers praised for their hard work at Tottenham blaze on Friday night. 20 fire engines and 120 firefighters attended the intense fire which destroyed two warehouses but crews were able to save two neighbouring buildings. We appreciate all the kind words we've received and will make sure we forward them on to those who worked to get the fire under control quickly and without injuries.
Firefighters were called to reports of a faint smell of smoke coming from an office in the National Gallery this morning

Shaz Beatty We need to turn this around we need to badger the politicians get media in and get Londoners involved there is not enough publicity highlighting the danger members of the public are in due to the severe shortage of cover across London for this very valuable service social media won't do this albeit it's a start I propose initially a petition and we go from there who's in favour and I speak from personal interaction

Well done if you correctly guessed the fire in Wembley was started by a candle.
Firefighters rescued five adults and a child from the fire at a block of flats and a man who left the block before the arrival of the Brigade was taken to hospital.
You should never leave a candle unattended. Stay safe using candles by following our top tips:

Can you guess what our investigators believe started this recent fire in Wembley? We'll reveal the answer later.
A) A candle
B) A discarded cigarette

We've got an important Bonfire Night message for you from our fire dog.
Sherlock says make sure you celebrate safely by going to an organised display, but if you are having your own event, please think of animals and your neighbours and follow the Firework Safety Code.

Happy Retirement to Watch Manager Kieran Kilmartin who completed his final shift as team leader of Islington White Watch Command Unit last week, after 32 years in the Brigade.
He first joined in October 1983 and served at Hendon, Tottenham, Southgate and Islington fire stations.
Station Manager Winston Douglas said: “We wish Kieran a happy retirement. Hopefully Kieran will be taking time out to improve his Golf and spending some quality time with partner Anita and two children Chloe and Harry.”

It was a busy weekend for our firefighters who carried out multiple rescues while tackling a flat fire in North Kensington on Saturday.
Crews rescued 50 people from the block, including two people who were brought to safety from two balconies via a ladder.
Around 60 firefighters tackled the blaze and our 999 control officers gave fire survival guidance to trapped occupants while they waited for firefighters to arrive. Sixteen people were taken to hospital as a precaution.

Aaron Cierzo there was a fire station in that area once!
Dean Pounder Let's not forget the hero's on the phone. Firefighters get all the praises and we tend to forget that control staff are a key factor to saving lives by giving fire survival guidance over the phone which enables us to locate people to then lead to safety. Without control staff there would definitely be fatalities.
Halloween is barely over, but if you're already looking forward to Bonfire Night we have the perfect thing for you.
It’s much safer to attend an organised firework display than to have your own, so we have designed a map listing free and ticketed events taking place across the capital until November 9.
Share this post with anyone you know that may be tempted to have their own display: http://www.london-fire.gov.uk/firework-displays-in-london-2…
We are once again urging the public to attend organised firework displays this Bonfire Night after attending 89 separate outdoor fires last year.
