“The entire weight of the cement truck, around 92,000 lbs, was resting on the driver’s arm. All we could see was his hand on the ground, sticking out from the cab. This man was in serious danger of losing a limb or worse,” says FDNY member Lt. Scott Cassese of Ladder 119 in Brooklyn, who responded to the scene of an overturned truck on the ‪#‎BQE‬. Joined by members of Engine 211, Engine 207, Ladder 110 and Rescue 2, all worked together quickly and efficiently to free the dri...

The nights are getting cooler and we must all remember to be ‪#‎FDNYSmart‬when heating our homes. ALWAYS turn off and unplug space heaters when you leave a room or go to sleep. When purchasing a space heater, look for heaters with automatic shut-off features, and remember that kerosene and propane space heaters are illegal to use in NYC.
