What $1,850/Month Can Rent You in New York City

Welcome to Curbed Comparisons, a column that explores what one can rent for a set dollar amount in various NYC neighborhoods. Is one man's studio another man's townhouse? Let's find out! Today's price: $1,850/month.
↑ In Stuyvesant Heights, this pretty one-bedroom is on the top floor of a brownstone building, and gets plenty of light via a couple of skylights. It also has two decorative mantels and a renovated kitchen, all for $1,850
↓ This Midtown West studio doesn't have a ton of room—there's a Murphy bed in the listing photos, if that's any indicator of its size—but it does have high ceilings, hardwood floors, and a normal-sized kitchen. There's no fee and it's asking $1,850
↓ On the pro side, this Murray Hill studio is located in a doormanbuilding with an elevator, utilities are included, and there's a regular-sized bathroom. On the con side, it's technically a micro-apartment, measuring only 275 square feet.
↓ In Sunnyside, this one-bedroom apartment is a bit plain, but does have some nice touches, including—wait for it—a dishwasher.
↓ There aren't many details in the listing for this Upper West Sidestudio (the listing calls it a one-bedroom, but we're not buying it), but it seems to be a decent space for one person: There's a kitchen with plenty of cabinet space, and a few closets
↓ The listing describes this Kips Bay studio as "luxury looking," which doesn't make a ton of sense; it looks like a fairly standard-issue apartment, albeit with some nice touches like exposed brick and subway tile in the bathroom. The kitchen was also recently renovated.
Which apartment would you choose for $1,850?
Stuyvesant Heights
Midtown West
Murray Hill

Where does one find a shower curtain long enough for the Kips Bay shower stall?
If I had a budget of $1850, and these were the apartments I saw, I think I would just keep looking.
Hi Curbed users! How's everybody doing? I miss y'all! (smooches and xo's). Back from a mini-vacation (no no no no...I'm not spending my time creating a jewelry line), but here's my assessment:
Stuy Heights - Spacious rooms and nice curb appeal. However, location is questionable. Location, location, location. This would be perfect for a couple who does not mind a long commute (if they work in the city) - Grade: C+
Midtown West - Claustrophobic and a glorified foyer, it does come with a sleek Murphy Bed. Grade: C
Murray Hill - $1850 for 275 sq ft? Automatic fail. A potential tenant that is planning to live here, is just another annoying Sigma phi Ep boy (ugh!) Grade D
Sunnyside - Functional kitchen and at least it is true one bedroom. There is potential, however you have to rely on the local transit system. Grade: B-
Upper West Side - Another functional kitchen and a small bedroom. I am not a fan of the ensuite bathroom/bedroom combo. Plain jane - Grade C
Kips Bay - Although a studio, there's some exposed brick which adds to some character. The kitchen is modern. This is perfect for a new graduate...either Columbia or Wellesley and perhaps a UVA Cavalier!
Chuck Murray Hill AND Stuy Heights, Sleep in Kips Bay, and Marry Sunnyside (perfect for couples!)

Curbed does better with lower end rentals than higher.
@stache: Thank you! Smooches! XO!

@Svetlana: hey there! welcome back! We missed you :-) I like the Kips Bay apartment and the price seems reasonable (as reasonable as it can be in today's market where anyone can ask anything for any dump).
@Manhattan4Ever: Hey hey! Great to hear from you! I miss you too!!!! Kips Bay is definitely a reasonable apartment choice! It's great to be back in this wonderful community! I'm excited to be back...beyond words! I told myself while in Turks and Caicos that I must desist from logging on to anything...including curbed.com or worse...secretly logging onto my blackberry OR GOOD
BTW, just a minor point, the person taking the photo should've get rid of the plastic cover on the toilet.
Smooches to you manhattan!
#besos
